Lego ''Star Wars'' (stylized as ''LEGO Star Wars'') is a List of Lego themes, Lego theme based on the Star Wars, ''Star Wars'' media franchise created by George Lucas. It includes over 928 Lego building toy sets, 1389 Lego minifigures, an eponymous video game series containing six games, and multiple animated short films and television series. Originally it was only licensed from 1998 to 2009, but The Lego Group extended the license with Lucasfilm, first until 2011, then until 2016, then again until 2022, and then once more until 2032. Overview ''Lego Star Wars'' is based on the ''Star Wars'' saga and franchise. The product line directly focuses on the Star Wars characters from the films and TV Series, with the exception of a few special characters. It was first announced in February 1999 at the North American International Toy Fair, serving as a tie-in to ''Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'', that would be released in May. Lego Technic
Lego Technic (stylized as ''LEGO Technic'') is a line of Lego interconnecting plastic rods and parts. The purpose of this series is to create advanced models of working vehicles and machines, compared to the simpler brick-building properties of normal Lego. In addition to encouraging creativity, Technic is also intended as a tool for children to learn some basic principles of mechanical engineering. Overview The theme was introduced either as ''Expert Builder'' or ''Technical Sets'' (depending on market) in 1977, and was renamed ''LEGO Technic'' in 1982. Technic sets are characterized by their use of special pieces, such as gears, axles, and pins, which allow the construction of working mechanisms and mechanical structures. Other special pieces include beams and plates with holes in them, through which the axles could be installed. Some sets also come with Lego pneumatics, pneumatic pieces or electric motors.
