Taiwan Football Premier League (TFPL; ) is the top-ranked division in the Taiwanese football league run by Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA). History The Taiwan Football Premier League was founded in 2017 after the folding of the then highest-ranked National First Division Football League ( Intercity Football League). Under the serious epidemic COVID-19 in 2020, TFPL due to light situation in Taiwan, became one of the few football leagues in the world to start the season as usual. Competition format The Taiwan Football Premier League's schedule usually runs from April to November. It contains 8 teams that compete in a series of three round-robin tournaments, each composed of seven games. After the 21 game schedule is complete, the top team wins the league title and an automatic berth in the following year's AFC Cup. Asian Football Confederation
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in most countries/territories in Asia. The AFC was formed in 1954. It has 47 members. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC that managed women's association football in Asia. The group was independently founded in April 1968 in a meeting involving Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. In 1986, ALFC merged with AFC. NOTE - according to the Coaches Across Continents (CAC) annual report for 2021, the AFC is a partner of CAC. Taiwan Second Division Football League (sometimes called Taiwan Football Challenge League) is the second-ranked division in the Taiwanese football league run by Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA). This League is directly below the Taiwan Premier League. The league currently comprises eight teams from around Taiwan. Competition format The Taiwan Football Second Division League's schedule usually runs from July to November, after the initial qualifiers where new entries play own tournament, with top 2 playing last 2 from previous Challenge League season. It currently contains 8 teams that compete in a double leg round-robin tournament, each composed of seven games. New Taipei City is a special municipality located in northern Taiwan. The city is home to an estimated population of 3,974,683 as of 2022, making it the most populous city of Taiwan, and also the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung. Hang Yuan Football Club (; also spelled Hang Yuen) is a professional football club based in New Taipei, Taiwan that competes in the Taiwan Football Premier League. The club was previously known as Air Source Development and is currently affiliated with Fu Jen Catholic University. Hang Yuan was the first Taiwanese team to take part in the AFC Cup group stage.
