Stony Point Center
Stony Point Center is one of three conference centers of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The other two conference and retreat centers are Ghost Ranch and Montreat. Stony Point Center welcomes people of all faiths and nations to discern, discover, learn, and lead. Stony Point Center is located on in the Hudson River Valley in the town of Stony Point, New York, north of Manhattan. The facility began about 150 years ago as a ministry of hospitality shaped by four daughters of a Presbyterian minister. In a given year, the center with its 180-bed campus welcomes a wide variety of groups who come to hold their own programs/retreats. Stony Point Center sponsors programming focused on nonviolence, peace and justice, environment, spiritual practices, and church issues. Ghost Ranch
Ghost Ranch is a retreat and education center located close to the village of Abiquiú in Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico, United States. It was the home and studio of Georgia O'Keeffe, as well as the subject of many of her paintings. Montreat, North Carolina
Montreat is a town in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 723 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is best known for Montreat Conference Center, Montreat College, and for having been the home of the evangelist Billy Graham (1918 – 2018) and his wife Ruth Bell Graham (1920 – 2007). John Garcia Gensel
John Garcia Gensel (February 16, 1917- February 6, 1998) was a Lutheran minister who ministered to the Jazz community, and the creator of Jazz ministry in New York City. Early life John Garcia Gensel was born in Manatí, Puerto Rico in 1917 and baptized as a Roman Catholic by his birth parents. At the age of six he was sent alone to the United States, where he was raised in Catawissa, Pennsylvania by his aunt Fina and her husband Charles Gensel, who legally adopted him. John Gensel earned his Bachelor of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in 1943. After being ordained into the ministry, he met Audrey Moyer Dodge while preaching at a church in Washington, D.C.; they married in 1943. Dave Brubeck
David Warren Brubeck (; December 6, 1920 – December 5, 2012) was an American jazz pianist and composer. Often regarded as a foremost exponent of cool jazz, Brubeck's work is characterized by unusual time signatures and superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities. Born in Concord, California, Brubeck was drafted into the US Army, but was spared from combat service when a Red Cross show he had played at became a hit. Within the US Army, Brubeck formed one of the first racially diverse bands. In 1951, Brubeck formed the Dave Brubeck Quartet, which kept its name despite shifting personnel.
