Stips
''Stips'' is a 1951 West German romantic comedy film directed by Carl Froelich and starring Gustav Fröhlich, Heli Finkenzeller and Eva Ingeborg Scholz.Bock & Bergfelder p. 139 It was shot at the Tempelhof Studios in West Berlin. The film's sets were designed by the art director Hans Luigi. Synopsis Doctor Dirkhoff, nicknamed Stips, was a popular but unconventional art teacher at a local school. Many of the girls in his classes had romantic crushes on him. When he returns to the town nearly a decade later, now a widower, most of his former students are now happily married but his return reawakens their feelings for him. Carl Froelich
Carl August Hugo Froelich (5 September 1875 – 12 February 1953) was a German film pioneer and film director. He was born and died in Berlin. Biography Apparatus builder and cameraman From 1903 Froelich was a colleague of Oskar Messter, one of the advance guard of German cinema, for whom initially he worked on the construction of cinematographic equipment. As cameraman for Messter's weekly newsreels he filmed among many other things the aftermath of a train accident on the Berlin elevated railway on 28 September 1908, one of the worst transport disasters of the time. Film director and producer Between 1912 and 1951 he made 77 films. In 1913 Froelich made his directorial debut with ''Richard Wagner (film), Richard Wagner'' (''see alo List of films about Richard Wagner''.) Otto Gebühr
Otto Gebühr (29 May 1877 – 13 March 1954) was a German theatre and film actor, who appeared in 102 films released between 1917 and 1954. He is noted for his performance as the Prussian king Frederick the Great in numerous films. Early life Born in Kettwig (today part of Essen) in the Rhine Province, the son of a merchant, Gebühr attended the '' gymnasium'' secondary school in Cologne and completed a commercial training. Alongside he took drama lessons and began his acting career at the Görlitz city theatre. In 1898 he joined the ensemble of the Königliches Hoftheater Dresden and from 1908 performed at the Lessing Theater in Berlin. As a World War I volunteer he achieved the rank of a Lieutenant in the German Army. He died 13th March, 1954 in Wiesbaden. Eva Probst
Eva Irene Probst (21 April 1930 – 19 November 2018) was a German actress. Biography Born in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Probst was married to Austrian actor Gerhard Riedmann from 1954-60. In the 1950s, she starred in romantic comedy films and ''Heimatfilme''. From its inception in 1992 until the following year, she played Jessica Naumann in the German soap opera, ''Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten''. Probst died on 25 November 2018 at the age of 88 in a Berlin retirement home.
