Snapshot (photography)
A snapshot is a photograph that is "shot" spontaneously and quickly, most often without artistic or journalistic intent and usually made with a relatively cheap and compact camera. Common snapshot subjects include the events of everyday life, often portraying family members, friends, pets, children playing, birthday parties and other celebrations, sunsets, tourist attractions and the like. Snapshots can be technically "imperfect" or amateurish: poorly framed or composed, out of focus, and/or inappropriately lighted by flash. Automated settings in consumer cameras have helped to obtain a technologically balanced quality in snapshots. Use of such settings can reveal the lack of expert choices that would entail more control of the focus point and shallower depth of field to achieve more pleasing images by making the subject stand out against a blurred background. Snapshot photography can be considered the purest form of photography in providing images with the characteris ...

Snapshots (Eleanor McEvoy Album)
''Snapshots'', Eleanor McEvoy's third studio album, was released in 1999. McEvoy's primary goal was to make ''Snapshots'' her most song-oriented album to date. Toward that goal, McEvoy hooked up with producer Rupert Hine (who worked with Stevie Nicks, Tina Turner, Suzanne Vega, and Duncan Sheik). The extensive use of drum loops on the album was a complete change in style from McEvoy's previous work. This is McEvoy's only album on which she does not play violin. Before the overdub sessions, she was attacked whilst walking down the street on the way home from the studio and her hand broken, although she recovered completely. Columbia Records had not been prepared for these changes and not long after the release of ''Snapshots'' McEvoy was dropped; her subsequent recordings were on independent labels. Critical reception Boston Globe, 1999 "...her sophisticated voice and compassionate seasoned lyrics ... make Eleanor McEvoy’s album a gem." Irish singer Eleanor McEvoy returns with h ...

Snap Shot (ice Hockey)
A snap shot is an abbreviated wrist shot in ice hockey. The purpose of the snap shot is to combine the main advantages of the wrist shot (shot accuracy and quick delivery) and slap shot (puck speed). The snap shot is accomplished with a quick snap of the wrists while the puck rests in place. The difference between a snap shot and a wrist shot is that the stick blade is accelerated towards the puck from a small distance behind it. This allows the player to flex the shaft on the ice and strike the puck at speed – although not to the degree of a full slap shot. The stick is usually not lifted higher than the knee during the shot, which makes this shot legal in most old-timer hockey leagues despite its rapid pace. Snap shots are the most common shot taken when the crease player receives the pass and decides not to one-time the puck. The snap shot is often considered a compromise between the wrist shot and slap shot, and can sometimes be mistaken for one or the other due to its inhere ...

Snapshot (novella)
''Snapshot'' is a novella by American author Brandon Sanderson published in 2017. Background Sanderson wrote this novella during a trip in the United Arab Emirates. He said "''Snapshot'' is one of those stories that, once I had the idea, wouldn’t leave me alone. I wrote it furiously, having only about a week’s time to finish it, and I’m very pleased with the product: a kind of cyberpunk–detective thriller mashup." Plot introduction The Snapshot Project has been inherited by an independent city-state called New Clipperton, which enables it to recreate a day up to 10 days in the past and used to investigate the crimes on that date. Detectives Anthony Davis and his partner Chaz are the only real people in the city of 20 million. They are sent into snapshots whose badges enable them to uncover crimes based on the real city. On 1 May they uncover hidden evidence of a grisly mass murder but the authorities have ordered them to ignore it... Audiobook An audiobook version o ...

Snapshot (video Game)
''Snapshot'' is a platform game developed by Retro Affect and released on 30 August 2012 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Gameplay The player controls a character with fairly standard 2-D controls: left, right, duck, and jump. The player also controls a camera viewfinder, the Snapshot of the title, with the mouse. When a snapshot is taken of an in-game object, it disappears from the gameworld and is stored on the camera; the stored images can then be pasted into new parts of the gameworld to overcome an obstacle. The objects and elements that can be captured have a wide range of different properties or utilities, such as elephants that serve as walking springboards or gusts of wind that can push the player across long gaps. In addition to completing the individual levels, there are also awards given for collecting all stars in a level, beating time challenges and taking snapshots of specific items in a level and retaining them until the level is exited.
