David Renton (born 1972) is a British barrister, historian, and socialist. Renton has represented clients in a number of high-profile cases, especially concerning trade union rights and the protection of free speech, and is frequently quoted on these topics in the British media. Beginning his career as an academic historian, he has published over twenty books on the history and politics of fascism, anti-fascism, and the left. Renton is a former member of the Socialist Workers Party (SWP), and was a founding member of Revolutionary Socialism in the 21st Century (rs21) in 2014. David Lockhart-Mure Renton, Baron Renton, (12 August 1908 – 24 May 2007) was a British politician who served for over 60 years in Parliament, 34 in the House of Commons and then 28 in the House of Lords. Renton was Member of Parliament for Huntingdonshire from 1945 to 1979, initially as a Liberal National and then in accordance with the party's successive mergers with the Conservatives, as a "National Liberal and Conservative", then in 1968 he was one of the final three National Liberal MPs who opted to wind up the party and become a full part of the Conservatives. David Malcolm Renton (February 8, 1878 – May 27, 1947), known as "DM", was a builder and business executive in southern California. He is best known for his Craftsman style homes in Pasadena and for the construction of the Casino Ballroom and other homes on Catalina Island in the early 1900s. Frank Renton is a British musician, conductor and broadcaster, and former host of ''Listen to the Band'' on BBC Radio 2. An accomplished trumpet player, Renton won a competition for young conductors at the 1967 Edinburgh Festival, whilst employed as a musician in the British Army. Conducting appointments soon followed in West Germany, Cyprus, Singapore and Scotland, before returning to England as Director of a Military Music School in York. He was Musical Director for James Shepherd Versatile Brass for three years, and began conducting the Grimethorpe Colliery Band. Kris Joseph Renton (born 12 July 1990) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a striker for Musselburgh Athletic. He was the youngest Norwich City player in the club's history. Ronald Timothy Renton, Baron Renton of Mount Harry, (28 May 1932 – 25 August 2020) was a British Conservative Party politician.
