Redemption Island
''Survivor: Redemption Island'' is the twenty-second season of the American CBS competitive reality television series ''Survivor''. It premiered on February 16, 2011. Applications were due in January 2010, and filming lasted from August to September 2010. The season was filmed near San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, the same location as the previous season. The show featured returning players Russell Hantz and Rob Mariano and 16 new players to ''Survivor.'' Mariano was named the winner in the final episode on May 15, 2011, defeating Phillip Sheppard and Natalie Tenerelli in an 8–1–0 vote. In addition, Mariano won $100,000 as the "Sprint Player of the Season," receiving 40% of the fans' votes; Matt Elrod, with 36%, received the next-highest total. Jeff Probst
Jeff Probst (; born November 4, 1961) is an American reality show host and executive producer. He is best known as the Emmy Award-winning host of the U.S. version of the reality television show ''Survivor'' since 2000. He was also the host of '' The Jeff Probst Show'', a syndicated daytime talk show produced by CBS Television Distribution from September 2012 to May 2013. Early life Probst was born at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, to Jerry and Barbara Probst, and moved to Bellevue, Washington halfway through high school. After graduating from Newport High School in 1979, he attended Seattle Pacific University and worked at Boeing Motion Picture/Television studio as a producer and narrator of marketing videos. Pearl Islands
The Pearl Islands (Spanish: Archipiélago de las Perlas or Islas de las Perlas) is a group of 200 or more islands and islets (many tiny and uninhabited) lying about off the Pacific coast of Panama in the Gulf of Panama. Islands The most notable island is Contadora Island (or Isla Contadora in Spanish), known for its resorts. Contadora was said to be used by the Spanish conquistadors as a stop for taking inventory of booty prior to returning to Spain, hence the name (''contador'' means counter or bookkeeper in Spanish). Contadora is a resort island, with many homes owned by wealthy Panamanians. There are a large hotel and other cabins available. Most of the resort workers live on nearby Isla Saboga. Miss Maine USA
The Miss Maine USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Maine in the Miss USA pageant. The pageant is directed by The Clemente Organization based in Malden, Massachusetts. Maine has placed nine times at Miss USA. In 2006, Katee Stearns made the semi-finals, becoming the fifth woman from Maine and the first since 1977 to make the cut. In 2010, Katie Whittier became the first delegate from Maine to reach the top five, finishing 4th runner up. In 2011, Ashley Marble became Maine's first consecutive placement. Three Miss Maine USAs were former Miss Maine Teen USA titleholders, who competed at Miss Teen USA. One also competed at Miss America. Grant Mattos
Grant Logan Mattos (born March 12, 1981) is known as a former NFL wide receiver and special teams player who played for three teams over a four-year career, and as a contestant on '' Survivor: Redemption Island'', the 22nd season of U.S. Survivor, where he finished in eighth place. High school and college career Mattos went to Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, California. He then played college football at the University of Southern California after transferring from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California and graduated in 2003. In 2003, he was part of the team's Orange Bowl triumph. Steve Wright (American Football, Born 1959)
Stephen Hough Wright (born April 8, 1959) is a former American football offensive tackle in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Raiders. He was also a member of the Oakland Invaders of the United States Football League. He played college football at Northern Iowa and then played eleven professional seasons with four teams from 1981–1992. He also appeared on '' Survivor: Redemption Island'' where he placed tenth and became the third jury member. Early years Wright attended Wayzata High School, where he played football, basketball, track, and hockey. He was an All-American in the shot put and discus throw. Lake Nicaragua
Lake Nicaragua or Cocibolca or Granada ( es, Lago de Nicaragua, , or ) is a freshwater lake in Nicaragua. Of tectonic origin and with an area of , it is the largest lake in Central America, the 19th largest lake in the world (by area) and the tenth largest in the Americas, slightly smaller than Lake Titicaca. With an elevation of above sea level, the lake reaches a depth of . It is intermittently joined by the Tipitapa River to Lake Managua. Zapatera is a shield volcano located in the southern part of Nicaragua. It forms the island of Isla Zapatera in the Lake Nicaragua. Isla Zapatera constitutes one of 78 protected areas of Nicaragua.
