Pakistan Meteorological Department
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) (, also known as Pakistan Met Office), is an autonomous and independent institution tasked with providing weather forecasts and public warnings concerning weather for protection, safety and general information. Apart from meteorology, it is also involved in monitoring as well as investigating weather phenomena, astronomical events, hydrology and research in astrophysics, climate change, aeronautical engineering, and renewable energy resources across the country. It is headquartered in Islamabad. Till 1991, PMD was providing aviation weather services to defence forces through regular deputation of meteorologists to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). However in 1991, PAF formed its own Met branch, and officers are now inducted on a regular basis in PAF to meet aviation requirements. The main training for meteorologists is, however, imparted by PMD at Pakistan Institute of Meteorology and Geo Physics Karachi, through formally recognized cou ...

Personal Transporter
A personal transporter (also powered transporter, electric rideable, personal light electric vehicle, personal mobility device, etc.) is any of a class of compact, mostly recent (21st century), motorised micromobility vehicle for transporting an individual at speeds that do not normally exceed . They include electric skateboards, electric kick scooter, kick scooters, self-balancing unicycles and Segways, as well as gasoline-fueled Motorized scooter, motorised scooters or skateboards, typically using two-stroke engines of less than Engine displacement, displacement. Many newer versions use recent advances in Electric-vehicle battery, vehicle battery and motor-control technologies. They are growing in popularity, and legislators are in the process of determining how these devices should be classified, regulated and accommodated during a period of rapid innovation. Generally excluded from this legal category are electric bicycles (that are considered to be a type of bicycle); Electr ...

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
is a spin-off video game from the main ''Pokémon'' series developed by Spike Chunsoft (formerly Chunsoft). The games feature the fictional creatures called Pokémon who have the ability to speak human language navigating through a randomly generated dungeon using turn-based moves, common to '' Mystery Dungeon'' games. , there have been eleven games across five platforms, as well as several manga adaptations and animated specials. These games are based in dungeons (“mystery dungeons”) where a floor map is randomly generated. In the dungeons, players fight other Pokémon while obtaining items and finding stairs to the next floor, exiting the dungeon after a fixed number of floors. Across all installments, the series has sold over million copies. Gameplay Although there are different features in each of the titles, the major aspects of gameplay in each title are the same. It is also generally seen as an easier edition of the other ''Mystery Dungeon'' games. The playe ...

Back End Of Line
Back end of the line or back end of line (BEOL) is a process in semiconductor device fabrication that consists of depositing metal interconnect layers onto a wafer already patterned with devices. It is the second part of IC fabrication, after front end of line (FEOL). In BEOL, the individual devices (transistors, capacitors, resistors, etc.) are connected to each other according to how the metal wiring is deposited. Metalization The individual devices are connected by alternately stacking oxide layers (for insulation purposes) and metal layers (for the interconnect tracks). The vias between layers and the interconnects on the individual layers are thus formed using a structuring process. Common metals are copper and aluminum. BEOL generally begins when the first layer of metal is deposited on the wafer. BEOL includes contacts, insulating layers (dielectrics), metal levels, and bonding sites for chip-to-package connections. For modern IC processes, more than 10 metal layers ...

Adobe PageMaker
Aldus PageMaker (later Adobe PageMaker) is a desktop publishing computer program introduced in 1985 by the Aldus Corporation on the Apple Macintosh. The combination of the Macintosh's graphical user interface, PageMaker publishing software, and the Apple LaserWriter laser printer marked the beginning of the desktop publishing revolution. Ported to PCs running Windows 1.0 in 1987, PageMaker helped to popularize both the Macintosh platform and the Windows environment. A key component that led to PageMaker's success was its native support for Adobe Systems' PostScript page description language. After Adobe purchased the majority of Aldus's assets (including FreeHand, PressWise, PageMaker, etc.) in 1994 and subsequently phased out the Aldus name, version 6 was released. The program remained a major force in the high-end DTP market through the early 1990s, but new features were slow in coming. By the mid-1990s, it faced increasing competition from QuarkXPress on the Mac, and to ...

Physical Medium Dependent
Physical medium dependent sublayers or PMDs further help to define the physical layer of computer network protocols. They define the details of transmission and reception of individual bits on a physical medium. These responsibilities encompass bit timing, signal encoding, interacting with the physical medium, and the properties of the cable, optical fiber, or wire itself. Common examples are specifications for Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). For cable modems physical medium dependent sublayers define the physical sub-layer. Description The Ethernet PMD sublayer is part of the Ethernet physical layer (PHY). The hierarchy is as follows: * Data link layer (Layer 2) ** Logical link control (LLC) sublayer ** Medium access control (MAC) sublayer *** Reconciliation sublayer (RS)This sublayer processes PHY local/remote fault messages and handles DDR conversion * PHY layer (Layer 1) ** Physi ...

Photonic Mixer Device
A time-of-flight camera (ToF camera), also known as time-of-flight sensor (ToF sensor), is a range imaging camera system for measuring distances between the camera and the subject for each point of the image based on time-of-flight, the round trip time of an artificial light signal, as provided by a laser or an LED. Laser-based time-of-flight cameras are part of a broader class of scannerless LIDAR, in which the entire scene is captured with each laser pulse, as opposed to point-by-point with a laser beam such as in scanning LIDAR systems. Time-of-flight camera products for civil applications began to emerge around 2000, as the semiconductor processes allowed the production of components fast enough for such devices. The systems cover ranges of a few centimeters up to several kilometers. Types of devices Several different technologies for time-of-flight cameras have been developed. RF-modulated light sources with phase detectors Photonic Mixer Devices (PMD), the Swiss Ranger, an ...

MikuMikuDance
MikuMikuDance (commonly abbreviated to MMD) is a freeware animation program that allows users to create animated and still renders, originally produced for the Japanese Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, the first member of the Character Vocal series created by Crypton Future Media. The program was developed by Yu Higuchi (HiguchiM) and has gone through significant upgrades since its initial creation. Its production was made as part of the VOCALOID Promotion Video Project (VPVP). Overview The software allows users to import computer-generated .pmd and .pmx models into a virtual space that can be moved and animated accordingly. The positioning of the computer-generated figures can be easily altered, as can the facial expressions (as long as the model has morphs to use), and motion data can be applied to the model to make it move. In addition, accessories, stages, and backgrounds can be added to create an environment, and effects such as shaders and filters can be applied using the MMEffect (Mi ...

PMD 85
The PMD 85 is an 8-bit personal computer produced since 1985 by the companies '' Tesla Piešťany'' and ''Tesla Bratislava'' in the former Czechoslovakia. The production was local, due to a lack of foreign currency for purchasing systems from the West. They were deployed ''en masse'' in schools throughout Slovakia, while the IQ 151 performed a similar role in the Czech part of the country. The first Czechoslovak video games were created on the PMD 85 (other platforms were ZX Spectrum and Atari). Several variants were developed (PMD 85-0, PMD 85, PMD 85-2, PMD 85-2A, PMD 85-3), with slightly different specifications and compatibility. In 1986 compatible machines were introduced by '' Didaktik'': Didaktik Alfa 1 (a PMD 85-1 clone) and Didaktik Alfa 2 ( a PMD 85-2 clone). Didaktik Beta was a slightly improved Didaktik Alfa, having almost identical hardware. Didaktik Alfa and Beta were mostly deployed in schools to replace older PMD 85 computers. After the Velvet Revolution of ...
