New Genesis
The New Gods are a fictional extraterrestrial race appearing in the eponymous comic book series published by DC Comics, as well as selected other DC titles. Created and designed by Jack Kirby, they first appeared in February 1971 in ''New Gods'' #1. Publication history Volume 1 (1971) The New Gods are natives of the twin planets of New Genesis and Apokolips. New Genesis is an idyllic planet filled with unspoiled forests, mountains, and rivers and ruled by the benevolent Highfather, while Apokolips is a nightmarish, polluted dystopia filled with machinery and fire pits, ruled by the tyrannical Darkseid. The two planets were once part of the same world, a planet called ''Urgrund'' (German language, German for "primeval ground"), but it was split apart millennia ago after the death of the Old Gods during Ragnarök. Alex Ross
Nelson Alexander Ross (born January 22, 1970) is an American comic book creator, comic book writer and artist known primarily for his painted interiors, covers, and design work. He first became known with the 1994 miniseries ''Marvels'', on which he collaborated with writer Kurt Busiek for Marvel Comics. He has since done a variety of projects for both Marvel and DC Comics, such as the 1996 miniseries ''Kingdom Come (comics), Kingdom Come'', which he also cowrote. Since then he has done covers and character designs for Busiek's series ''Astro City'', and various projects for Dynamite Entertainment. His feature film work includes concept and narrative art for ''Spider-Man (2002 film), Spider-Man'' (2002) and ''Spider-Man 2'' (2004), and DVD packaging art for the M. Night Shyamalan film ''Unbreakable (film), Unbreakable'' (2000). Paris Cullins
Paris Cullins is an American comics artist best known for his work on DC Comics' '' Blue Devil'' and '' Blue Beetle'', and '' Hyperkind'' from the Marvel Comics imprint Razorline. Early life Paris Cullins was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in its North Philadelphia section. He credits his mother, who "had a great appreciation for art and for comic books," for exposing him to comics as a child. His father was a touring jazz musician and also an artist who specialized in landscapes. At 11 years old, he said, he got his first paying job as an artist, drawing for a coloring book company, and as he grew older did art for a variety of outlets including Larami Toys, the afterschool-TV show '' Wee Willie Webber Colorful Cartoon Club'' on Philadelphia's WPHL-TV, and for a holiday card manufacturer.
