Naiṇī Devī
Naiṇī, Nāgnī or Nāginā Devī is the name of nine Devi, Hindu Goddesses belonging to the shape-shifting serpent deities or Nāgas, who rule as goddesses and mothers over the lower part of the Pindar river valley in the Garhwal Himalayas, Garhwal Himalaya region of Uttarakhand, India. Seven of these goddesses establish the rule over their territory through a journey (Yatra, ''yātrā'') of six months, during which they are carried around, embodied in the shape of a bamboo pole clothed with sari, saris. Through their ''yātrā''s, the Naiṇīs re-establish their family ties to those women of their respective village who have married into other villages. In the Indian Western Himalaya, this is a common way of establishing divine kingship and territory. ''Nagin'' is a 1954 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film, directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal, and written by Rajendra Krishan, Hameed Butt and Bijon Bhattacharya. It stars Vyjayanthimala and Pradeep Kumar, and has a hit musical score by Hemant Kumar. This film was partly produced in Technicolor. The film was a blockbuster and highest-grossing film of 1954. Moreover, it established the career of Vyjayanthimala in Hindi film industry. Synopsis Two Adivasi tribes (Nagi & Ragi) are in conflict for the local economic rights. ''Nagin'' ( ''Female Serpent'') is a 1976 Hindi-language horror film, produced and directed by Rajkumar Kohli, under the Shankar Movies banner. It stars Reena Roy in the title role alongside an ensemble cast of Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan, Jeetendra, Sanjay Khan, Rekha, Mumtaz, Vinod Mehra, Yogeeta Bali, Kabir Bedi and Anil Dhawan; its music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. ''Naagin'' () is a Pakistani supernatural thriller drama series, that aired from 17 April 2017 to 27 May 2019 with four seasons on Geo Kahani. Daniel Steven Nagin (born November 29, 1948) is an American criminologist, statistician, and the Teresa and H. John Heinz III University Professor of Public Policy and Statistics at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College. He was elected a Member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2025. Education Nagin received his B.S. in Administrative and Managerial Sciences and M.S. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University in 1971. He later received his Ph.D. from what is now the university's Heinz College in 1976. Career Nagin served as the Deputy Secretary for Fiscal Policy and Analysis in the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue from 1981 to 1986. Clarence Ray Nagin Jr. (born June 11, 1956) is an American former politician who was the 60th Mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana, from 2002 to 2010.
