Matthias Casse
Matthias Casse (born 19 February 1997) is a Belgian judoka, a 2021 World Champion who won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Judo career In 2017, Matthias Casse became junior world champion in Zagreb, the first Belgian male judoka to achieve this since Johan Laats in 1986. That same year, he won his first judo Grand Prix medal at senior level, winning a bronze medal in the Hague. In 2019 he won the gold medal at the European Games (this also was the European judo championship) and at the Judo World Masters. After having won the Paris Grand Slam in 2020 he became the no. 1 on the world ranking in his category. Dirk Van Tichelt
Dirk Van Tichelt (born 10 June 1984) is a Belgian judoka. Van Tichelt's biggest achievement was his 2008 European title in Lisbon. At the same year, at the Beijing Olympics he came fifth after losing in the first round to gold-medallist Elnur Mammadli and later losing in the bronze medal match to Rasul Boqiev. At the 2009 World Championships, he reached the semi-finals but there he lost to Kim Chol-Su. In the bronze medal match he beat Sezer Huysuz to take his first bronze medal at a world championships. At the 2013 World Championships, he again won bronze, losing to eventual champion Shohei Ono in the semi-final and beating Dastan Ykybayev in his bronze medal match. The European Games is a continental multi-sport event in the Olympic tradition contested by athletes from countries served by national Olympic committees within the European Olympic Committees (EOC), the regional association for such committees. The EOC represents European nations and several transcontinental countries. An EOC Refugee team is also included. Judo World Masters
The Judo World Masters is an annual invite-only judo competition. After being open for only the top 16 ranked judoka in each weight class for its first eight installments, the tournament was expended to host the top 36 of each weight class in 2019. The world masters is the only world tour event with no limitation on the number of judoka competing from any single national association.
