Kandula Lakshmi Durgesh Prasad, better known as Kandula Durgesh, is an Indian Politician. He was a member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council for a term from 2007-2013 representing Indian National Congress. He also contested the 2019 assembly election (2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election), in Rajahmundry Rural (Assembly constituency) representing Jana Sena Party defeated in the election polling but secured 42,685 votes in his favour. Kandula Mallikharjuna Rao, better known as Mallik (1921–1996) was an Indian popular music composer and singer. He was born in Machilipatnam, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, to K. Venkatachalam and Lakshmi Narasamma. His initial training in music was under the guidance of the late Krovi Satyanarayana. He served as a music composer and singer at All India Radio (AIR), Madras, for 30 years before transferring to AIR,Vijayawada. During his tenure at Akashvani, he composed numerous songs, including dance dramas, Bhakthi Ranjani pieces, and folk melodies. Kandula Obul Reddy (7 July 1901 – 3 January 1993), popularly known as Obul Reddy was an Indian politician. He held prominent roles throughout his career, serving as the General Secretary of the Congress for Madras State and later as a Cabinet Minister and as a Parliamentarian. His contributions extended beyond the realm of politics, as he also served as the chairman for APSRTC and AP Agricultural University. The killing of Jaahnavi Kandula (1999 – January 23, 2023) occurred in Seattle, Washington on January 23, 2023, when Seattle Police Department officer Kevin Dave hit her with his police vehicle as she crossed the street in a marked crosswalk. On May 22, 2023, a U-Haul truck crashed into the north barriers of Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C.. Kandula is a famous war elephant mentioned in the Sinhala chronicle Mahavamsa. According to the chronicle, when Dutugamunu of Sri Lanka (101–77 BC) was born, many items of value were said to have appeared spontaneously, which were found and brought in by various people as gifts to the newborn.
