JFH: Justice For Hire (also known as ''JFH'', ''Justice For Hire'', and ''JFH: Justice-For-Hire'') is a mixed martial arts themed entertainment property that encompasses a series of comic books, films, videos, music, and animations. The ''JFH'' story follows two sons of a duo of vigilante fathers who get their family's hero-for-hire business legalized, spawning a worldwide industry of heroes, villains, and mercenaries for hire dubbed the Retribution Industry. Produced and published by Creative Impulse Entertainment, ''JFH'' remains one of the first examples of transmedia storytelling in the comic book industry. Jan Lucanus is an American comic book writer, filmmaker, martial artist, musical artist, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of the transmedia company Creative Impulse Entertainment, Inc., co-creator/co-writer of the mixed martial arts comic books series JFH: Justice For Hire, is a filmmaker, an international martial arts champion in both the full contact sport of sanshou and the sport of tai chi pushing hands, and is a rapper/singer/songwriter. The magazine is based in Valencia, California, and is one of the oldest titles dedicated to martial arts in the United States. History and profile The magazine was founded in 1961 by Mitoshi Uyehara. It was published by Uyehara under the company "Black Belt, Inc." based in Los Angeles until 1973. Although the publication went mainstream in 1961, the first magazine was produced and sold for ten cents and was put together on the kitchen floor of Uyehara's home in 1958. Golden Apple Comics is a comic book store in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. History The store's original owners, Bill Liebowitz and Thom Smitham, opened Golden Apple Comics on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles in 1979. The original inventory of the store consisted of Thom's comic book and comic art collection and bags from the prior company that had occupied the building, a business called Golden Apple: thus, Golden Apple Comics was born.
