Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club (), commonly known as Hoang Anh Gia Lai and simply known as HAGL, is a Vietnamese professional football club based in Pleiku, Gia Lai. Owned by Đoàn Nguyên Đức, a prominent Vietnamese businessman and founder of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, HAGL play in the top division of Vietnamese football, V.League 1. Their home stadium is Pleiku Stadium. History Early years The forerunner of the club is Gia Lai - Kon Tum football team, founded in 1976. Despite being an amateur team, the team also once won the A2 championship (equivalent to the A2 championship) including South Central and Central Highlands. Kim Dong-Sung (, born 9 February 1980) is a South Korean former short track speed skater. He won a gold medal in 1000m race and silver medal in 5000m relay at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Washington Brandão dos Santos (born 18 August 1990) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for V.League 1 club Hoang Anh Gia Lai. The COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The number of confirmed cases is the highest total in Southeast Asia, and the 13th highest in the world. Saigon Football Club () was a Vietnamese professional association football club administered by Saigon Football Development Joint Stock Company. Following the relegation from 2022 season and problems related to the club's ownership, it was proposed that team would be dissolved. A last minute attempt was made to give the license over to Lam Dong FC in 2023 season., however, this deal fell though. The 2012 V-League season was the 29th season of Vietnam's national football league and the 12th as a professional league. The season started on 31 December 2011 and finished on 19 August 2012. On 15 December it was announced that the league would change name and would simply be known as the Premier League. Then, it was changed name to Super League. Vietnamese National Football Cup (), commonly recognized and branded as the National Cup (), is a Vietnamese Association football, football competition. It is one of the most important club competitions in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Cup was first held in 1992. Ho Chi Minh City FC, Cảng Sài Gòn was the first cup winner. Format Since 2004, entry is open to all teams that competed in the V.League 1 and the V.League 2. The 2010 V-League season was the 27th season of Vietnam's national football league and the 10th as a professional league. The league and cup winners would enter the 2011 AFC Cup. The bottom side at the end of the season get relegated. The side that finishes 2ND from bottom enters an end of season play-off match against the 2nd Division's 2nd placed side. Hoang Anh Gia Lai Academy
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Academy () is the youth section of V.League 1 side Hoàng Anh Gia Lai. Based in Pleiku, Gia Lai Province. The academy was a built as co-operation between Arsenal Football Club, JMG Academy and the Vietnamese privately owned Hoang Anh Gia Lai Corporation before the partnership ended completely in 2021. History In 2007, V.League 1 club Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) succeeded in signing an agreement with the English football club Arsenal and the French JMG Academy, founding the HAGL Academy – Arsenal JMG in Pleiku. Despite football being the number one sport in Vietnam, the country had few successes in regional football tournaments, by with only one AFF Championship title in 2008, as Thailand was still the dominating team in the region.
