Gold Digger (Dolly Rockers Song)
"Gold Digger" is the debut single (music), single by English girl group The Dolly Rockers. It was released digitally in the United Kingdom on 30 August 2009 and physically the day after. The track heavily borrows from Kid Creole and the Coconuts' 1982 song "Stool Pigeon (song), Stool Pigeon" and Tom Tom Club's 1981 song "Wordy Rappinghood". Reception Nick Levine of Digital Spy referred to "Gold Digger" as "the pop equivalent of flicking through ''OK!'' and having a bitch about the Z-listers inside—and every bit as fun as that sounds." Grant of the BBC Chart Blog called it a "very decent debut" and wrote that "[t]he wonky pop, 'wonky' pop sound gets you bopping from the off and the quirkyness of their style matches the eccentricity of the song." However, he criticised the track by stating that "fame hungry girls talking about other fame hungry girls is a touch hypocritical", while noting the lack of "a killer melody to match the killer dance/pop production". Gold Digger
Gold digger is a term for a person, typically a woman, who engages in a type of transactional relationship for money rather than love. If it turns into marriage, it is a type of marriage of convenience. Etymology and usage The term "gold digger" is a slang term that has its roots among chorus girls and sex workers in the early 20th century. In print, the term can be found in Rex Beach's 1911 book, ''The Ne'er-Do-Well'', and in the 1915 memoir ''My Battles with Vice'' by Virginia Brooks. The ''Oxford Dictionary'' and ''Random House's Dictionary of Historical Slang'' state the term is distinct for women because they were much more likely to need to marry a wealthy man in order to achieve or maintain a level of socioeconomic status. The term rose in usage after the popularity of Avery Hopwood's play '' The Gold Diggers'' in 1919. Hopwood first heard the term in a conversation with Ziegfeld performer Kay Laurell. As an indication on how new the slang term was, Broadway pr ...

The artwork and design of ''Gold Digger'' are strongly influenced by Japanese manga, and Perry himself describes the book as a mixture of ''Indiana Jones'' and ''Final Fantasy''. Publication history Perry came up with the initial inspiration for Gold Digger during his tour of duty in the First Gulf War, and released the debut one-shot in Antarctic Press' ''Mangazine'' in 1991.
