Festival 2005
''Festival 2005'' is a live DVD by The Cure released in late 2006. It was shot during the band's headlining shows at 9 European music festivals in the summer of 2005. The video features a variety of angles "captured by a mix of fans, crew and 'on-the-night-big-screen cameras'." It was the first physical (non- digital download) release by the band since guitarist Porl Thompson returned to the line-up. An extended play containing three of the tracks from the DVD was also made available. The Cure
The Cure are an English rock band formed in 1978 in Crawley, West Sussex. Throughout numerous lineup changes since the band's formation, guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter Robert Smith has remained the only constant member. The band's debut album, '' Three Imaginary Boys'' (1979), along with several early singles, placed the band in the post-punk and new wave movements that had sprung up in the United Kingdom. Beginning with their second album, '' Seventeen Seconds'' (1980), the band adopted a new, increasingly dark and tormented style, which, together with Smith's stage look, had a strong influence on the emerging genre of gothic rock as well as the subculture that eventually formed around the genre. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
''Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me'' is the seventh studio album by English rock band the Cure, released on 26 May 1987 by Fiction Records. The album helped bring the Cure into the American mainstream, becoming the band's first album to reach the top 40 of the ''Billboard'' 200 chart and achieving platinum certification. Like its predecessor, '' The Head on the Door'', it was also a great international success, reaching the top 10 in numerous countries. Robert Smith (musician)
Robert James Smith (born 21 April 1959) is an English musician. He is the lead singer, guitarist, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of the rock band the Cure, which he co-founded in 1978. He was also the lead guitarist for the band Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1982 to 1984, and was part of the short-lived group the Glove in 1983. Smith is known for his guitar-playing style, distinctive voice, and fashion sense, with the lattera pale complexion, smeared red lipstick, black eye-liner, a dishevelled nest of wiry black hair, and all-black clothesbeing highly influential on the goth subculture that rose to prominence in the 1980s. Simon Jonathon Gallup (born 1 June 1960) is an English musician and bassist with the alternative rock band The Cure. He is the second longest-serving member of the band after lead vocalist/guitarist Robert Smith. Early years Born in Duxhurst, Surrey, Simon's family moved to Horley in 1961 where he attended Horley Infants and Junior Schools until 1971, followed by Horley Balcombe Road Comprehensive to 1976. Between 1976 and 1978 he worked in a plastics factory and became the bass player for local punk band Lockjaw, who later evolved into the Magazine Spies (1979–1980), also known as the Mag/Spys. Lockjaw and the Mag/Spys played regular live shows with Easy Cure and later the Cure between 1977 and 1979, and after collaborating in the studio on the Cult Hero recording sessions in October 1979, both Gallup and keyboardist Matthieu Hartley left the Mag/Spys to join the Cure. "A Forest" is a song by the English rock band The Cure. Co-produced by Mike Hedges and the band's Robert Smith, it was released as a single from the band's second album ''Seventeen Seconds'' on 28 March 1980. It was their debut entry on the UK Singles Chart, reaching number 31. The accompanying music video was first shown on BBC's ''Top of the Pops'' programme on 24 April 1980. The album marked the first time frontman Robert Smith co-produced with Mike Hedges. "Cut Here" is a song by English rock band The Cure, released as a single in October 2001 from their best-of compilation ''Greatest Hits'' released the same year. Content Cure frontman Robert Smith wrote the song in memory of his friend Billy Mackenzie, the lead singer of the new wave band Associates, who committed suicide in 1997.
