Empire Of The Penguin
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin is a theme area at SeaWorld Orlando which featured a motion-based, trackless dark ride and a penguinarium. The ride has been closed indefinitely since March 2020. The Antarctica-themed area is spread across inside SeaWorld Orlando. Announced in 2011, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin opened on May 24, 2013. At the time it was the largest attraction at any SeaWorld Entertainment theme park. As part of a campaign to promote the attraction, SeaWorld released a promotional video in July 2012. The area was generally well received by critics and the public at its opening. History Rumors and announcement In August and September 2011, SeaWorld Entertainment filed trademarks for "Antarctica" to be used for a theme area, and "Empire of the Penguins" to be used for an amusement ride. This led to rumors that SeaWorld Orlando would replace its "Penguin Encounter" exhibit (which opened in 1987) with a dark ride. A report by the ''Orlando Sentinel'' in Oct ...

Motion Simulator
A motion simulator or motion platform is a mechanism that creates the feelings of being in a real motion environment. In a simulator, the movement is synchronised with a visual display of the outside world (OTW) scene. Motion platforms can provide movement in all of the six degrees of freedom (DOF) that can be experienced by an object that is free to move, such as an aircraft or spacecraft:. These are the three rotational degrees of freedom (roll, pitch, yaw) and three translational or linear degrees of freedom (surge, heave, sway). Types Motion simulators can be classified according to whether the occupant is controlling the vehicle(such as in a Flight Simulator for training pilots), or whether the occupant is a passive rider, such as in a simulator ride or motion theater. *Examples of occupant-controlled motion simulators are flight simulators, driving simulators, and hydraulic arcade cabinets for racing games and other arcade video games. Other occupant-controlled veh ...

Journey To Atlantis
''Journey to Atlantis'' is the name shared by three Water Coasters located at SeaWorld theme parks. These attractions, while different from one another, tell a similar story of a trip to the mythical land of Atlantis. Each one combines roller coaster elements, such as chain lift hills and steep drops, with boat-based attraction elements, such as splash-down landings. All three attractions were designed by Mack Rides of Germany. SeaWorld Orlando The original ''Journey to Atlantis'' made its debut on April 17, 1998 at SeaWorld Orlando. It is one of the six roller coasters at the park. Along with Wild Arctic, it was one of the park's only thrill rides until the arrival of ''Kraken'' in 2000. The four other roller coasters came after: '' Super Grover's Box Car Derby'' in 2006, '' Manta'' in 2009, ''Mako'' in 2016, and ''Ice Breaker'' in 2022. ''Journey to Atlantis'' features a small aquarium exhibit, "Jewels of the Sea", in its gift shop exit area. Inside, guests will find aquaria b ...

Poughkeepsie Journal
The ''Poughkeepsie Journal'' is a newspaper based in Poughkeepsie, New York, and owned by Gannett, which bought the paper in 1977. Founded in 1785 (though not a daily newspaper until 1860), the ''Journal'' is the oldest paper in New York state, and is the second-oldest in the nation. The Journal's primary coverage area is Dutchess County, though the entire Mid-Hudson Valley is covered in some form, along with some coverage of points south via the White Plains–based '' Journal News''. Throughout its existence, the ''Journal'' has been a paper of historical significance given the various events in the Poughkeepsie area. For example, in 1788, the editor of the ''Journal'' was the official reporter of the ratification of the United States Constitution by New York in that year (the event itself occurring in Poughkeepsie, which was the state capital at the time). The paper also served as a launching point of stories during the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration when the Preside ...

Murre
''Uria'' is a genus of seabirds in the auk family known in Britain as guillemots, in most of North America as murres, and in Newfoundland and Labrador as turr. These are medium-sized birds with mainly brown or black plumage in the breeding season. They breed on the coasts of the northern Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Taxonomy The genus ''Uria'' was introduced by the French zoologist Mathurin Jacques Brisson in 1760 with the common murre (''Uria aalge'') as the type species. The genus name is from Ancient Greek ''ouria'', a waterbird mentioned by Athenaeus. The English "guillemot" is from French ''guillemot'' probably derived from ''Guillaume'', "William". "Murre" is of uncertain origins, but may imitate the call of the common guillemot. ''Uria'' auks are relatives of the razorbill, little auk and the extinct great auk and together make up the tribe Alcini. Despite the similar British common names, they are not so closely related to the ''Cepphus'' guillemots, which form th ...
