In audio signal processing and acoustics, an echo is a reflection (physics), reflection of sound that arrives at the listener with a delay after the direct sound. The delay is directly proportional to the distance of the reflecting surface from the source and the listener. Typical examples are the echo produced by the bottom of a well, a building, or the walls of enclosed and empty rooms. The Echoes (English Group)
The Echoes were an English musical group, established in London in early 1960 by singer Chris Wayne, for the Johnny Preston, Conway Twitty and Freddy Cannon tour of Great Britain. During the period 1960 to 1971, the Echoes toured extensively throughout the United Kingdom and elsewhere in the world, playing for various artists and providing the backing on many recordings. Early days The Echoes were originally made up from 'The Spacemen Skiffle Group', which was Joe Brown's skiffle group. Brown was a regular on the 1959 '' Boy Meets Girls,'' a television show with Marty Wilde. The Spacemen had no other work while Brown was contracted to do the show, so they were able to undertake a tour with Chris Wayne as "The Echoes". Their original line up was Chris Wayne (vocals), Tony Oakman (rhythm guitar), George Staff (rhythm guitar), Peter Oakman (bass), and Bert Crome (drums). ''Echoes'' is the debut full-length studio album by American rock band the Rapture. It was released on September 8, 2003, by DFA and Output in the UK, and on October 21, 2003, by DFA, Vertigo, and Universal in the U.S. It was co-produced by the DFA and the Rapture and recorded at the DFA's own Plantain Recording House studio in New York City. Background The Rapture moved from San Francisco to New York in 1999 and wrote " House of Jealous Lovers" the following year. They met James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy of DFA Records at one of their first performances in New York. Murphy and Goldworthy took a long time to persuade the band to work together because of a concern that making a dance song would alienate their fans. ''Echos'' is the eighth studio album by Switzerland-based Gothic rock band Lacrimosa. It features classically influenced Gothic-themed rock music. The title is German for "echoes". The record was released on 27 January 2003 by Hall Of Sermon. Style Echos begins with an orchestral overture of 13 minutes length and continues with a mix of symphonic elements and hard rock that is typical of Lacrimosa. However the entire album is oriented towards classical instruments rather than hard electric guitars. Singer Anne Nurmi's only solo track "Apart" has been compared to music by the Cocteau Twins. Generally, the album has been seen as a typical work by Lacrimosa. Reception The album received positive reviews from the critics and stayed in the German charts for four weeks peaking at position 13. ''Echoes'' is a remix album by Industrial band Front Line Assembly. It was released on May 13, 2014 through Metropolis. Release and promotion At the same time they released '' Echogenetic'' (2013), Front Line Assembly announced plans to follow up with a remix album. The names of the first few remixers were revealed in July 2013. A poll on Facebook where the band asked their fans who should deliver a remix received more than 300 responses. A more comprehensive and confirmed list of remixers followed in December 2013. The release date of ''Echoes'' was disclosed in February 2014, followed by the track list. In April, snippets of the album were available at Metropolis. Other online music platforms provided longer snippets shortly before actual release in May. Released in January1967 on Columbia Records, the album was his first effort after his departure from the folk-rock group the Byrds in 1966. Camel (band)
Camel are an English progressive rock band formed in Guildford, Guildford, Surrey, in 1971. Led by guitarist Andrew Latimer, they have released fourteen studio albums and fourteen singles, plus numerous live albums and DVDs. Without achieving mass popularity, the band gained a cult following in the 1970s with albums such as ''Mirage (Camel album), Mirage'' (1974) and ''The Snow Goose (album), The Snow Goose'' (1975).
