Dev Anand (; born Dharamdev Pishorimal Anand; 26 September 1923 – 3 December 2011) was an Indian actor, writer, director and producer known for his work in Indian cinema, Hindi cinema. He is considered as one of the greatest and most successful actors in the history of Indian cinema. Through a career that spanned over six decades, he worked in more than Dev Anand filmography, 100 films. Anand is a recipient of four Filmfare Awards, including two for Filmfare Award for Best Actor, Best Actor. The Government of India honoured him with Padma Bhushan, Indian third highest civilian honour in 2001 and with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002. Devon ( ; historically also known as Devonshire , ) is a ceremonial county in South West England. It is bordered by the Bristol Channel to the north, Somerset and Dorset to the east, the English Channel to the south, and Cornwall to the west. Govinda Chandra Dev (1 February 1907 – 26 March 1971) (Full name : Govinda Chandra Dev Purakayastha), also known as Dr. G. C. Dev, was a professor of philosophy at the University of Dhaka. He was assassinated at the onset of the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 by the Pakistan Army. Early life and education Dev was born in the village of Lauta of the Panchakhanda Pargana (currently Beanibazar Upazila) of Sylhet District, British India (present-day Bangladesh) on 1 February 1907.
