China Girl (song)
"China Girl" is a song written by Iggy Pop and David Bowie in 1976, and first released by Pop on his debut solo album, ''The Idiot'' (1977). Inspired by an affair Pop had with a Vietnamese woman, the lyrics tell a story of unrequited love for the protagonist's Asian girlfriend, realizing by the end that his Western influences are corrupting her. Like the rest of ''The Idiot'', Bowie wrote the music and Pop improvised the lyrics while standing at the microphone. The song was released as a single in May 1977 and failed to chart. Bowie recorded a more well-known version during the sessions for his 1983 album '' Let's Dance'', reportedly to assist Pop with his poor finances at the time. It was co-produced by Nile Rodgers, who transformed the song into a pop number with an Asian-inspired guitar riff. Bowie's version was released as the second single from the album in May 1983, reaching number two in the UK and number 10 in the US. Its accompanying music video featured New Zealand a ...

American Fool
''American Fool'' is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter John Mellencamp (credited as John Cougar), released on April 12, 1982. The album was his commercial breakthrough, holding the No. 1 position on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart for nine consecutive weeks. A remastered version of ''American Fool'' was released on Mercury/Island/UMe on March 29, 2005; it includes one bonus track, the previously unreleased title track. Production Producer Don Gehman stated in a 2011 interview that ''American Fool'' was fraught with layers of problems. "We had 20 or so songs, we had a record company that was hoping we were making a Neil Diamond‑type album, and after we spent two or three months in the studio recording these songs and mixing them to the best of our ability, I can remember an A&R guy in a pink shirt coming in to listen to them and basically thinking we had nothing. At that point, they put a stop to the project. We had ‘ Jack & Diane,’ we had ‘Hand to ...

Between The Sheets (The 411 Album)
''Between the Sheets'' is the debut and only studio album by British girl group The 411. It was released by Sony Music on 22 November 2004 in the United Kingdom. ''Between the Sheets'' was supported by three successful singles, including " On My Knees" featuring Ghostface Killah, " Dumb" and " Teardrops". However, upon release the album failed to match the success of its singles. It charted outside of the UK top 40 and spent just three weeks on the chart, resulting in the group being dropped by Sony. Critical reception Kitty Empire from ''The Guardian'' found that "the 411's debut album offers up a further array of songs that are either too bland or not quite right. Third single " Teardrops" pivots on the same Lalo Schifrin riff that Portishead lifted, but as atmospheric as it is, it remains a secondhand idea. ''Between the Sheets'' isn't dreadful, but it sounds like an opportunity missed. With the Sugababes The Sugababes are an English girl group composed of Mutya Buena, ...
