Frederick Alers Hankey
Frederick Alers Hankey (29 March 1833 – 15 February 1892) was an English banker and Conservative politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1892. He also played first-class cricket for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in 1852 and 1853. Hankey was born in London, the son of Thomas Alers Hankey and his wife Elizabeth Green. His father was a banker in the family firm of Hankey & Co. Hankey was educated at Harrow School and played for the cricket first XI against Eton in 1850 and 1851. He then went to Oriel College, Oxford. He played one game for MCC in 1852 against Surrey Club and in 1853 he played two games for MCC against Oxford University. Hankey played 5 innings in 3 first-class matches, with a top score of 26 not out and an average of 22.00. 3rd Party was an American three-member dance-pop group that released one album in 1997. They are best known for their ''Billboard'' Hot 100 charting dance hits "Can U Feel It" and "Love Is Alive". Background Lead singer Maria Christensen was a songwriter before the band, singing since the age of 5 and writing songs since she was 10 years old. Rafael Alers (October 16, 1903 – March 20, 1978) was a musician, composer, bandleader and the first Puerto Rican to compose the music score for a Hollywood feature film. Early years Alers (birth name: Rafael Alers Gerena ) was born in the city of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, to Don Ignacio Alers and Doña Anita Gerena. He received his primary and secondary education in his hometown. The love that he developed for the Puerto Rican Danzas came about at a young age because of the influence which he received from his musically inclined family. He received his first musical instructions from the maestro Juan F. Acosta. With Acosta he learned to play the euphonium, a wind instrument which is essential in the execution of the danza. Rochelle Alers (born August 7, 1943) is an American writer of romance novels. She has also written under the pen names Susan James and Rena McLeary. Biography Rochelle Alers was born on August 7, 1943 in Manhattan, New York, where she was also raised. After earning degrees in sociology and psychology, she taught pre-school for a time before entering the business world. Alers began writing her first novel in 1984, after a decade of reading romance novels. She finished her first manuscript, the novel ''Hideway'', in 1985. After several rejections because her work did not fit the formula of a category romance novel, Alers perfected her style and was first published by Doubleday Books in 1988. Almost two million copies of her novels are now in print, and they have regularly appeared on the Waldenbooks, Borders, and ''Essence'' bestseller lists.
