The Basques ( or ; ; ; ) are a Southwestern European ethnic group, characterised by the Basque language, a common culture and shared genetic ancestry to the ancient Vascones and Aquitanians. Carlos Albizu Miranda
Carlos Albizu Miranda (16 September 1920 – 6 October 1984) was a Puerto Rican educator. He is the first Hispanic educator to have a North American university, Albizu University, renamed in his honor and one of the first Hispanics to earn a Ph.D. in psychology in the United States. Early years Albizu Miranda, cousin of the Puerto Rican Nationalist leader Pedro Albizu Campos, was born in Ponce, the second largest city in Puerto Rico located in the southern region of the island. His family moved to New York City where he received his primary and secondary education. Albizu Miranda and his family returned to Puerto Rico and he enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico where in 1943 he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education with a major on psychology and a minor in history.Carlos Albizu University

Daniela Albizu
Daniela Albizu Berasategi (Urrugne, Lapurdi, 23 May 1936 - Bayonne, 26 February 2015) was a Basque language, Basque-speaking teacher, writer, and councillor. She dedicated her entire life to the Basque language and culture. Biography Her father was from Alava and her mother from Guipuzcoa, having emigrated to Urrugne. Albizu developed a particular attachment to her mother tongue, Basque, after being prohibited from speaking it at school. Albizu taught at the Maurice-Ravel College in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. In addition to teaching French and Spanish, she devoted herself to teaching Basque. She promoted the initiative of Basque classes on the Gure Irratia radio station in Bayonne and was president of the Basque Studies Society. She was the first nationalist councillor in Urrugne, participating in the organisation of the group in 1982. Héctor Manuel Valdez Albizu (born November 10, 1947) is the current Governor of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, a position he first held from 31 August 1994 through 16 August 2000, and again since 17 August 2004. He is also a well known economist and author of numerous works relating to economics. Early life and family Valdez Albizu is the son of Ana Rita Albizu Reyes and Héctor Manuel Valdez Guerrero. Education In 1971 Valdez received his bachelor's degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. Joseba Albizu
Joseba Albizu Lizaso (born 6 July 1978 in Azpeitia, Basque Country) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2003 and 2006 for the and teams. Albizu won the Giro del Friuli in 2003. Biography He turned professional in 2003 with the Italian Mercatone Uno–Scanavino team. That year, he won the Giro del Friuli, his only professional victory. In 2004, he joined the Euskaltel–Euskadi (1994–2013) team and took part in the 2004 Vuelta a España, his only major tour, which he did not finish. He was involved in a traffic accident in October 2004 in which his friend Jokin Ormaetxea, a rider with the Paternina-Costa de Almería team, was killed when their car went off the road. He stopped his professional career in 2006. After his retirement, he took part in endurance events, notably mountain biking, with the amateur MMR Powerade team. Olga Albizu
Olga Albizu Rosaly (1924–2005) was an abstract expressionist painter from Ponce, Puerto Rico. Albizu Rosaly was the first woman dedicated to abstraction in Puerto Rico. Life Albizu was born to a relatively wealthy family and raised in Puerto Rico, where she studied painting with the Spanish painter Esteban Vicente from 1943 to 1947. She received a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico in 1946. In 1948 she moved to New York City on a fellowship for post-graduate work at the Art Students League, where she studied under Morris Kantor, Carl Holty, and Vaclav Vytlacil. She also studied with Hans Hofmann and subsequently became his apprentice. After that, she did further studies in Europe at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. Pedro Albizu Campos (June 29, 1893Luis Fortuño Janeiro. ''Album Histórico de Ponce (1692–1963).'' p. 290.
