''Afterlight'' (2009) is an album by the American ambient musician Steve Roach. Production ''Afterlight'' was created in the spring of 2009 over a period of several months. Steve Roach kept the piece in continual low-volume playback during periods of repose or contemplation. Roach would then modify and refine ''Afterlight'' into the flowing soundscape released to the public. ''Afterlight'' can be considered a sequel to ''Dynamic Stillness'': its creation originated immediately upon the completion of the latter album; a quote inside the album artwork reads, "after the stillness...comes the afterlight"; and both albums feature stark landscape-themed artwork created by Michal Karcz. Steve Roach deems ''Afterlight'' to be a companion piece to the two other long-form releases, ''Destination Beyond'' and ''Immersion : Four'', which were composed within the same timeframe, released within the same 24-hour period, and are interconnected in their "pursuit of timelessness." Thea Gilmore
Thea Eve Gilmore (born 25 November 1979), also known as Afterlight, is an English singer-songwriter. She has released more than twenty albums since her 1998 debut ''Burning Dorothy''. She has had three Top 40 entries on the UK Albums Chart and one on the UK Singles Chart. Her first album as Afterlight was released on 15 October 2021. Early life Gilmore was born in Oxford to Irish parents and lived in the village of North Aston, Oxfordshire. She became interested in music as a result of her father's record collection, which included work by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and The Beatles. Later, she listened to Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, and The Replacements, among others. Having always written poetry and stories, she began seriously writing songs at the age of 15. ''The Afterlight'' is a 2021 British experimental supercut art film directed and assembled by Charlie Shackleton. Summary The film, produced by Catherine Bray, Anthony Ing and Shackleton, and distributed by their studio Loop, consists of scenes of actors from old films who are no longer alive. The only copy of ''the Afterlight'' exists on a single 35mm film print, so that every time the film is played it gradually erodes until eventually it will diminish entirely and become a lost film.
