69 (album)
''69'' is the debut album by British band A.R. Kane, released in 1988 on Rough Trade Records and produced by the band with additional co-production from Ray Shulman. Following the release of their acclaimed ''Lollita'' and ''Up Home!'' EPs, ''69'' developed the experimental "dream pop" style pioneered by the duo, blending elements of dub, acid rock, jazz, noise, and pop. ''69'' reached number 1 on the UK Independent Albums Chart and was released to critical praise from the UK music press, garnering it comparisons to the work of disparate artists such as Miles Davis, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Arthur Russell, and Cocteau Twins. Writing for ''Melody Maker'', critic Simon Reynolds described it as "''the'' outstanding record of '88." Music historian Martin C. Strong described the album's sound as "hard to pigeonhole yet seminal nevertheless." The album has been recognized as an influential precursor to genres such as shoegaze, post-rock and trip hop. British Rail Class 69
The British Rail Class 69 is a class of diesel locomotives which are converted from locomotives. The conversion work is performed by Progress Rail at their workshop in Longport. The Class 69 was developed to fulfil the needs of the rail freight operator GB Railfreight (GBRf), which was unable to purchase additional Class 66 diesel locomotives yet sought more capacity in a similar performance band. The conversion of surplus Class 56s, which were available in sufficient quantity and in good enough condition to make the class a good candidate for the project, proved to be a desirable option, being more affordable than new build locomotives while achieving similar performance to the Class 66 post-conversion. Many of the new systems installed are similar, or identical, to those present on the Class 66, including its EMD 710 powerplant and associated control systems; this was a deliberate choice in order to maximise the performance similarities. Retained elements were refurbished to ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Texas State Highway 112
State Highway 112 (SH 112) is a short state highway that runs through the northern portions of Eastland County in the U.S. state of Texas. The routing was previously designated as State Highway 69 in 1971. Vandalism to the road signage as a result of its numbering had reached epidemic proportion by 1989, driving a resolution that the number of the road needed to be changed. The cost of resigning the roadway was considered reasonable by local governments, compared to that of the measures by law enforcement agencies that would be necessary to stop the vandalism. In 1992, the district requested and was granted renumbering of this route to State Highway 112. Route description Overall, there are two segments of the highway that run more east and west and one that runs north and south. The southern terminus of SH 112 is at exit 343 of Interstate 20 within the city limits of Eastland. Continuing east from the frontage road is Farm to Market Road 570. SH 112 travels wes ...
