''Zwackhia'' is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Lecanographaceae. It has six species. These lichens form thin, film-like crusts on bark and rock surfaces, often with a subtle orange tint from their algal partner. They produce distinctive elongated, slit-like fruiting bodies that remain narrow rather than opening into disc shapes. Taxonomy The genus ''Zwackhia'' was established by the German lichenologist Gustav Wilhelm Körber in 1855. Zwackhia Viridis
''Zwackhia viridis'' is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling), script lichen in the family Lecanographaceae. It has a cosmopolitan distribution, and has been documented in Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. Taxonomy The lichen was first formally described by the Swedish lichenologist Erik Acharius, as ''Opegrapha rubella'' var. ''viridis''. Ignaz Poetsch and transferred it to the genus ''Zwackhia'' in 1872. ''Lecanographaceae'' is a family of mostly lichens (also some lichenicolous fungi) in the order Arthoniales. The family was circumscribed in 2014, prompted by a molecular phylogenetic-based restructuring of the Arthoniales.
