Zvi Studinski
Zvi Studinski ( he, צבי סטודינסקי), born 16 February 1927, was an Israeli footballer, who played for Maccabi Tel Aviv and for Israel. Career Studinski was born in Berlin in 1927 and immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel after the rise of the Nazi Party. He joined Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth team in 1943 and moved to the senior team in 1945. With the senior team, Studinski won 5 league championships and 4 cups, including scoring goals in the 1954 and 1955 cup finals. Studinski retired from football in 1957. Studinski played five FIFA-recognized matches for the Israel national football team, between 1949 and 1954, including taking part in Israel's first great victory, a 5–1 thrashing of Turkey, in which he played as midfielder and assisted one goal before being substituted in the second half, as well as playing in other 4 non FIFA recognized matches, scoring one goal in the 3–3 draw against a Cypriot XI on 23 July 1949. 1947 Palestine Cup
The 1947 Palestine Cup ( he, הגביע הארץ-ישראלי, ''HaGvia HaEretz-Israeli'') was the fifteenth season of Israeli Football Association's nationwide football cup competition, and the last competed before the declaration of independence of Israel. The competition reverted to its previous format, of each round decided with a single match. Maccabi Tel Aviv and Beitar Tel Aviv met at a tempestuous final, which was abandoned at the 88th minute, with Maccabi leading 3–2. After Beitar claimed scoring an equalising goal, which wasn't given, the crowd stormed the pitch and Beitar player Yom-Tov Menasherov took the cup and escaped the pitch with it undetected by the authorities. 1946 Palestine Cup
The 1946 Palestine Cup ( he, הגביע הארץ-ישראלי, ''HaGavia HaEretz-Israeli'') was the fourteenth season of Israeli Football Association's nationwide football cup competition. The defending champion, Beitar Tel Aviv was eliminated in the first round after losing twice to Maccabi Nes Tziona. Hapoel Tel Aviv had difficulties throughout the competition, losing a match in the first round to minnows Hapoel Givatayim, and barely making it through the next round against Maccabi Rehovot, finally crashing to Hapoel Rishon LeZion in the quarter-finals. Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Rishon LeZion met in the two-legged final, Maccabi winning both legs to obtain its 5th cup. 1955–56 Liga Alef
The 1955–56 Liga Alef season was the first in which Liga Alef was the second tier of Israeli football due to the formation of Liga Leumit, and was the first nationwide second tier season (replacing Liga Bet North and South regional divisions). Hakoah Tel Aviv won the league and qualified for the promotion play-offs against Maccabi Jaffa (10th at the 1955–56 Liga Leumit). League matches were completed on 2 June 1956, however, Hapoel Balfouria appealed against the results which were set in its matches against Hapoel Nahariya (a walkover loss of 0–3) and Hapoel Jerusalem (which was abandoned with a score of 4–0 to Hapoel Jerusalem), as Balfouria could be spared from relegation with two wins in these matches. 1953–54 Liga Alef
The 1953–54 Liga Alef season saw Maccabi Tel Aviv were crowned champions for the third successive time, whilst Eliezer Spiegel of Maccabi Petah Tikva was the league's top scorer with 16 goals. No clubs were relegated as the league was expanded to 14 clubs in the following season. Although league matches ended on 13 March 1954, the confirmation of the league's final standings was delayed, as a match between Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Petah Tikva, which was played on 26 December 1953 and ended with a 3–2 win for Haifa, was claimed to be fixed, to allow Maccabi Haifa to win. Eventually, on 10 January 1955, the IFA decided to replay the match in a neutral venue, Maccabi Haifa won the rematch 4–1 and secured their spot in the top division. However, with the IFA already deadlocked with an ongoing dispute between Hapoel and Maccabi, Beitar declared its resignation from the IFA in protest of the IFA decision to replay the Maccabi Haifa-Maccabi Petah Tikva match. 1951–52 Liga Alef
The 1951–52 season was the first edition of Liga Alef, which had replaced the Israeli League as the top division of football in Israel following a year-long hiatus. It took place between October 1951 to June 1952 and was contested by 12 clubs, the same ones which had played in the top flight during the 1949–50 season minus Maccabi Nes Tziona. Maccabi Tel Aviv won their second consecutive championship, whilst the two Rishon LeZion clubs, Hapoel and Maccabi were relegated.
