Salome Zourabichvili
Salomé Nino Zourabichvili (born 18March 1952) is a French-born Georgian politician, former diplomat, and the fifth president of Georgia – the first female to be elected as president in the country's history. As a result of the constitutional amendments that came into effect in 2024, Zourabichvili became the last popularly elected president; under the new constitutional rules, moving forward Georgian presidents are to be elected indirectly by the Georgian Electoral Assembly. Zourabichvili was born in Paris, France, into a family of Georgian political refugees. She joined the French diplomatic service in the 1970s and over three decades went on to occupy a variety of increasingly senior diplomatic positions. François Zourabichvili
François Zourabichvili ( Georgian: ფრანსუა ზურაბიშვილი; 28 August 1965 – 19 April 2006) was a French philosopher who specialized in the works of Gilles Deleuze and Baruch Spinoza. Biography François Zourabichvili was the son of composer Nicolas Zourabichvili, nephew of historian Hélène Carrère d'Encausse, and cousin of author Emmanuel Carrère. He became agrégé in 1989 and earned his PhD in Philosophy in 1999. He taught at a lycée already from 1988 to 2001, was docent at Paul Valéry University, Montpellier III, and a director at the Collège international de philosophie from 1998 to 2004. He committed suicide in 2006 and is buried in the Russian Church of the Holy Trinity in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Hélène Carrère D'Encausse
Hélène Carrère d'Encausse (; née Zourabichvili; 6 July 1929 – 5 August 2023) was a French political historian who specialised in Russian history. From 1999 until her death in 2023, she served as the Perpetual Secretary of the Académie Française, to which she was first elected in 1990. Carrère d'Encausse was a member of the European Parliament between 1994 and 1999, representing the Gaullist-conservative party RPR. She was awarded the Lomonosov Gold Medal and Grand Cross with Star of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland in 2008 and 2011, respectively. She was a cousin of Salome Zourabichvili, the current disputed President of Georgia. In 2023 she was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award in Social Sciences. Nicolas Zourabichvili (born 24 October 1936) is a French composer. Biography Born in Paris, Zourabichvili began piano studies at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux, Bordeaux conservatory. He studied composition with Nadia Boulanger (1959–1962) and with Max Deutsch (1962–1964). He was awarded the Lili Boulanger Prize in 1970. In 1965 his philosopher-to-be son François Zourabichvili, François was born.
