''Zooni'' is an unreleased Indian Hindi-language film directed by Muzaffar Ali, starring Vinod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. The film was in production from 1988 and was expected to be released in 1990. A film restoration undertaking was announced in 2024. Plot ''Zooni'' is a period film revolving around the sixteenth century Kashmiri poet Habba Khatoon (1554–1609 CE; also known as Zooni), queen of Yousuf Shah Chak, the ruler of Kashmir. After he was arrested by Mughal emperor Akbar and banished to Bihar, he remained to be the last ruler of Kashmir. Habba Khatoon
Habba Khatoon (; born Zoon Rather () ; sometimes spelt Khatun), also known by the honorary title ''The Nightingale of Kashmir'', was a Kashmiri Muslims, Kashmiri Muslim poet and ascetic in the 16th century. She was the consort of King Yousuf Shah Chak, but attained immortality as the queen of song. Habba Khatoon's music pushed her poetry gradually into learned circles and those who had fled on the works of immortals like Ferdowsi, Firdausi, Omar Khayyam, Omar and Hafez were bound to raise their eyebrows at first. This wobbling of Habba Khatoon under her peculiar compulsions and with her own limitations created the symphony of romantic words running side by side with mystic poetry till it over stripped and outshone it. Muzaffar Ali
Muzaffar Ali (born 21 October 1944) is an Indian filmmaker, fashion designer, poet, artist, cultural revivalist, and social worker. Biography Raja Muzaffar was born in Lucknow of the erstwhile United Provinces, British India, in 1944. The eldest son of Raja Syed Sajid Husain Ali, then-ruling prince of the principality of Kotwara in Gola Gokaran Nath, Muzaffar attended La Martiniere, Lucknow, and graduated in science from Aligarh Muslim University. He worked in advertising before turning to film making. His early directorial films are '' Gaman'' (1978) and '' Umrao Jaan'' (1981). He also directed and starred in the TV series ''Jaan-e-Alam''. Personal Life Muzaffar Ali is currently married to Meera Ali, an architect and fashion designer, with whom he has a daughter Sama, who is also a fashion designer.
