Zodys
Hartfield-Zodys was an American retail corporation begun in 1960. It operated the Hartfield chain of women's ready-to-wear apparel in the Los Angeles area, and starting in 1960, the Zodys chain of discount retail stores (1960–1986), which operated locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Michigan. Hartfield's Hartfield was present on Broadway, the main shopping district in the Los Angeles area in the 1940s, in the F. and W. Grand Silver Store Building at 545 S. Broadway and also at 749 S. Broadway. Additionally, a 1943 advertisement showed branches at 253 South Market Street in Inglewood, 650 Pacific Boulevard in Huntington Park, and 705 South Pacific Avenue in San Pedro (the latter opened 1941), all busy downtown shopping districts of what were once separate towns that had become working and middle class suburbs of Los Angeles. Broadway, until 1890 Fort Street, is a major thoroughfare in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Garden Grove, California
Garden Grove is a city in northern Orange County, California, United States. The population was 171,949 at the 2020 census. State Route 22, also known as the Garden Grove Freeway, passes through the city in an east–west direction. The western portion of the city is known as West Garden Grove. Yankee Stores
Yankee was an American discount department store chain begun in Flint, Michigan. Partners Joseph Megdell and Wilbert Roberts opened their first store in 1948 to sell military surplus under the name U.S. Surplus. By 1964, it had become a discount chain with 21 stores throughout southeastern Michigan, primarily around Flint. Many of its locations were paired with local supermarket chain Hamady Brothers. Some larger stores, including those in Lansing and Bay City, were called Yankee Stadium. Megdell and Roberts sold the chain to Borman Foods, then-parent of Farmer Jack supermarkets, in 1965. California State Highway 39
State Route 39 (SR 39) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that travels through Orange and Los Angeles counties. Its southern terminus is at Pacific Coast Highway ( SR 1), in Huntington Beach. SR 39's northern terminus is at Islip Saddle on Angeles Crest Highway ( SR 2) in the Angeles National Forest, but its northernmost segment (including the connection with SR 2) has been closed to public highway traffic since 1978 due to a massive mud and rockslide. Officially, the highway is broken into pieces. Caltrans has not adopted or signed the segment between La Habra and West Covina.
