Ziras Parish
Ziras Parish ( lv, Ziru pagasts) is an administrative unit of the Ventspils Municipality, Latvia.The parish has a population of 543 (as of 1/07/2010) and covers an area of 153.80 km2. History In the territory of modern Ziras parish there were historically Vendzava manor (Gut Wensau, Vendzavas) and Ziru manor (Gut Sirgen, Ziras). In 1935, the area of Ziras Parish in Ventspils District was 90 km² and there were 1227 inhabitants. In 1945, Sise and Zira village councils were established in the parish, but in 1949 the parish was liquidated. The village of Zira belonged to (1949-1956), Ventspils (1956-1962), Kuldīga Kuldīga () (german: Goldingen) is a town in the Courland region of Latvia, in the western part of the country. Ventspils Municipality ( lv, Ventspils novads) is a municipality in Courland, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by merging Piltene town, Ance Parish, Jūrkalne Parish, Piltene rural community (from 2010 Piltene Parish), Pope Parish, Puze Parish, Tārgale Parish, Ugāle Parish, Usma Parish, Užava Parish, Vārve Parish, Ziras Parish and Zlēkas Parish. Kuldīga District
Kuldīga District ( lv, Kuldīgas rajons) was an administrative division of Latvia, located in Courland region, in the country's west. It was organized into a city and thirteen parishes, each with a local government authority. The main city in the district was Kuldīga. The district was located in the western part of Latvia on both sides of the Venta River. It had borders with 5 other former districts: Ventspils, Talsi, Tukums, Saldus and Liepāja. The borders of the district that it had when it was dissolved were established in 1950. Districts were eliminated during the administrative-territorial reform in 2009. Parishes Of Latvia
The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021. On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (''novadi'') and seven state cities (''valstspilsētas, plural''). On 1 June 2021, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the annexation of Varakļāni Municipality to Rēzekne Municipality was unconstitutional. In response, the Saeima decided to preserve the existence of Varakļāni Municipality as a 43rd local government unit.
