Tobias "Toby" Zachary Ziegler was a fictional character in the television serial drama ''The West Wing'', played by Richard Schiff. The role of Toby Ziegler earned actor Richard Schiff the Primetime Emmy Award for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2000. For most of the series' duration, he was White House Communications Director. Ernst Ziegler
Ernst Ziegler (born Ernst Aldoff, 16 April 1894 – 11 April 1974) was a German film and television actor. Biography Ziegler began his film career in 1932, appearing in the German film '' Die verkaufte Braut'' (The Bartered Bride). He went on to act in other German films and on German television. In 1970, he appeared in the American film '' Something for Everyone'', starring Angela Lansbury. His final film role was as Grandpa George (Charlie Bucket's grandfather) in the 1971 film ''Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory''. By this time, Ziegler's health was deteriorating, and he was legally blind, partly as a result of being gassed during the First World War. Delores Ziegler (born September 4, 1951) is an American mezzo-soprano who has had an active international performance career since the late 1970s. A former resident artist at the Cologne Opera, she has performed leading roles with many of the world's best opera houses, including La Scala, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and the Vienna State Opera. She is currently a professor of voice at the University of Maryland. Klaus Martin Ziegler (23 February 1929 – 22 September 1993) was a German choral conductor, organist and Protestant church musician. Career Ziegler was born in Freiburg. He studied music at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and matriculated from 1948 to 1950 as an examined Kapellmeister. He continued studies of sacred music at the Kirchenmusikalisches Institut Heidelberg from 1950 to 1952 with Wolfgang Fortner, Meinhard Hermann Poppen and . Anne Ziegler (born Irené Frances Eastwood; 22 June 1910 – 13 October 2003) was an English singer, known for her light operatic duets with her husband Webster Booth. The pair were known as the "Sweethearts in Song" and were among the most famous and popular British musical acts of the 1940s. William Smith (Bill) Ziegler CBE, DSO, ED (Calgary, 5 April 1911 – 1999) was a Canadian General officer active in World War II. Ziegler was born in Calgary, Alberta. His mother took him to Edmonton after the death of his father in 1925. He went to Strathcona High School in Edmonton. In 1926 he joined the Non-Permanent Active Militia and worked his way up through the ranks. In 1932 he became an officer in the Militia. He died in 1999 in Edmonton, after a short illness. Joachim Ziegler (2 October 1904 – 2 May 1945) was a high-ranking commander in the Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany during World War II. He was a commander of the SS Division Nordland, and was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Career Ziegler was awarded the Spanish Cross for his participation in the Spanish Civil War, fighting in the ''Condor'' Legion. In 1939 he served as the adjutant in the 3rd Panzer Brigade and on 23 September 1939 he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class followed by a 1st class award on 28 June 1940. David Ziegler (July 13, 1748 – September 24, 1811) was a German immigrant to the United States who served in the U.S. military and became the first mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio. Early life and career Johann David Ziegler was born in Heidelberg, Germany. Little is known of his early life. He became a soldier, and was said to have been a subordinate officer under Frederick the Great. He served with distinction in the army of Russia during the Russo-Turkish War (1768–1774). He became an officer, was wounded in action, and resigned his commission in 1774 with the demobilization of the Russian army.
