Zichang County
Zichang () is a city in the north of Shaanxi province ( Shaanbei), China. It is the northernmost county-level division of the prefecture-level city of Yan'an. Zichang had a population of 273,000 as of 2017, of which, 115,000 lived in urban areas. Administrative divisions Zichang is divided into 1 subdistrict and 8 towns. The G6511 Ansai-Qingjian Expressway (), also known as the Anqing Expressway (), or Shaanxi Provincial Expressway S14 (), is an under construction expressway in Shaanxi, China. A segment connecting Qingjian County, in Yulin to neighboring Zichang, in Yan'an, was opened in 2020. Once completed, the expressway will extend to Ansai District, in Yan'an. History Construction began on the section connecting Zichang and Qingjian County in August 2017. Construction was completed in late 2019. This section was opened to traffic on December 11, 2020. The Shaanxi provincial government submitted a request for proposal for the remaining section connecting the existing highway to Ansai District in October 2022. Xie Zichang
Xie Zichang (1897 - February 21, 1935, zh, 谢子长), originally named Shiyuan and also known as Deyuan, Zichang, and Haoru, was a native of Zichang County, Anding County (now Zichang County), Shaanxi. He was a key founder of the Red Army and the Soviet regime in northern Shaanxi, China. He has a son Xie Shaoming. Biography Xie Zichang attended Xi'an First High School and Yulin High School in northern Shaanxi in 1919. He was admitted to the Taiyuan School Corps in 1922 to pursue a degree in military affairs. Upon his return to Anding County in 1924, he established a militia organisation and served as its general director. In the same year, he actively engaged in anti-imperialist activities in Beijing and Tianjin and became a member of the Progressive Youth Organisation, "Common Progress Society."
