Zhu Weiqun
Zhu Weiqun (; born March 1947) is a Chinese politician. He formerly served as the executive deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Born in Jianhu County, Jiangsu Province, Zhu attended the Jingshan School and Renmin University. He graduated from the department of journalism of the graduate school of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with a master's degree. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in July 1970. In February 1999, he was appointed Deputy Head of the United Front Work Department of the CCP, where he handled ethnic affairs. He became the executive deputy of the Department in January 2006, ascending to full minister rank. In 2013, Zhu retired from active politics, and became the Chair of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Zhang Yijiong
Zhang Yijiong (; born 26 October 1955) is a Chinese politician, previously serving from 2012 to 2022 as the executive deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party (minister-level). Zhang was born in Shanghai. In January 1971, Zhang joined the Chinese Communist Party. He began his political career as the deputy head of the Communist Youth League organization in Qinghai province. He also worked at a potash mine, and was president of the Qinghai Potash Factory. He also served as the head of the economic and trade commission of Qinghai, and party chief of the provincial capital Xining. The 17th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was elected by the 17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, 17th Congress on 21 October 2007, and sat until the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, 18th National Congress in 2012. United Front Work Department
The United Front Work Department (UFWD) is a department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) tasked with " united front work". It gathers intelligence on, manages relations with, and attempts to gain influence over elite individuals and organizations inside and outside mainland China, including in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and in other countries. The UFWD focuses its work on people or entities that are outside the CCP, especially in the overseas Chinese diaspora, who hold political, commercial, religious, or academic influence, or who represent interest groups.
