Zhou Weiqi
Zhou Weiqi (; born 1 October 1986) is a Chinese chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2008. Career Born in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, Zhou has competed twice (2000, 2002) in the Chinese national team in the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad with playing record of 19 games (+11, =3, −5). In the 2008 Aeroflot Open (A2 group), he came second with a performance rating of 2703. In May 2008, he came joint first on points (8/11) and second on tie-break at the 2nd Philippine International Open in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. At the 79th FIDE congress, held on 16–26 November 2008 in Dresden, Germany, his application for the grandmaster title was approved, making him the 26th grandmaster of China. Asian Chess Championship
The Asian Chess Championship is a chess tournament open to all players from Asian chess federations (FIDE zones from 3.1 to 3.7). It's held with the Swiss system and consists in two divisions, Open and Women's, the latter of which is reserved to female players. Both sections determine the Asian champions and qualify a certain number of players for the FIDE World Cup and knockout Women's World Chess Championship respectively. The 2007 championship was a FIDE Zone 3 qualification event for the 2007 Chess World Cup, the next stage in the 2010 World Chess Championship. China Chess League
The China Chess League (CCL) () is a Chinese professional league for chess clubs. The league is organized by the Chinese Chess Association. It is sponsored by Youngor Group and was sponsored by the Shandongbr>Torch Real Estate Group(2005–2009) and it has been able to determine the league's sponsorship name. Seasons usually run from April to November each year. The league is contested by 10 clubs. Under the rules of the league each team is allowed to register seven Chinese players and an unlimited quota of foreign players. The rules require five boards with at least two female players and a 25 min+30 sec increment rapid game must also be played on one of the boards. Chess Club
A chess club is a club formed for the purpose of playing the board game of chess. Chess clubs often provide for both informal and tournament games and sometimes offer league play. Doeberl Cup
The Doeberl Cup is an annual chess tournament held in Canberra, Australia. It has been held every year since 1963 (apart from 2020) and is the longest running weekend chess event in Australia. Since its inception the event has grown both larger and stronger, and often attracts more players than the Australian Chess Championships. The tournament is held each year over Easter. The tournament runs in 4 sections, with the top section known as the Doeberl Cup Premier. Grandmaster Ian Rogers holds the record for the most wins (either outright or on tie-break) with 12. Dato' Tan Chin Nam (; 18 March 1926 – 21 October 2018) was a Malaysian entrepreneur and developer. His family is the majority shareholder of IGB Corporation Berhad. Tan was reportedly one of the richest men in Malaysia and had several companies and businesses.
