Zhokey
Zhokey (), also known as Zhukey (), is a salt lake in Birzhan sal District, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan. The villages of Zhukey, Karlovka, and Kyzyluyum are located by the lakeshore. Stepnyak town, the district capital, lies to the ESE. Geography Zhokey lies at the northern end of the Kazakh Uplands and is part of the Irtysh basin. It lies at an elevation of . It has a roughly round shape, quite regular on the eastern part. The Sarymsak river flows into the lake from the north. In years of abundant water it may flow out from the southeast, connecting Zhokey with neighboring lake Kotyrkol. The shores of the lake are steep in the western and southern stretches and gently sloping in the remaining perimeter. The slopes of high Burkitty Mountain rise beyond the western lakeshore. Among the lakes in its vicinity, Kotyrkol lies to the SSE, small lake Kotyrkol to the northwest, Balytkty to the WSW, Shchuchye to the WNW and Mamay to the southeast.Google Earth''ATAMEKEN: Geogra ... Kotyrkol () is a salt lake in Birzhan sal District, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan. Stepnyak town, the district capital, is located to the NNE of the northern lakeshore. Geography Kotyrkol lies at the northern end of the Kazakh Uplands and is part of the Irtysh basin. It lies at an elevation of . It has an elongated shape oriented in a roughly southeast–northwest direction, with the wider southern part tapering towards the north. Numerous small rivulets flow into the lake from the west. In the years of abundant water the lake is connected to neighboring lake Zhokey through the Sarymsak river. The shores of Kotyrkol are sloping and the lake bottom is muddy.
