Charles Zeuner (20 September 1795 Eisleben, Saxony - 7 November 1857 Philadelphia) was an American organist and composer originally active in Germany, then in Boston and Philadelphia in the United States. Biography He was baptized as Heinrich Christoph, but changed his name when he came to the United States, probably in 1830, though some reports say 1824. He studied with Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Michael Gotthard Fischer. He settled in Boston where he made his debut as organist, pianist and vocalist on 13 February 1830. He was organist for Park Street Church and the Handel and Haydn Society 1830-1837. His oratorio “The Feast of Tabernacles,” which was published in 1832, was premiered by the Boston Academy of Music in 1837 at the Odeon. It was the first work of its kind composed in America. Gustav Anton Zeuner (30 November 1828 – 17 October 1907) was a German physicist, engineer and epistemologist, considered the founder of technical thermodynamics and of the Dresden School of Thermodynamics. Life University and Revolution Zeuner was born in Chemnitz, Saxony. His first training in the subject of engineering was at the Chemnitz ''Königliche Gewerbeschule'' (Royal Vocational School), today Chemnitz University of Technology, where he studied from 1843-1848. In 1848 he moved the short distance to the ''Bergakademie'' (Mining Academy) in Freiberg, today also a university of technology, where he studied mining and metallurgy. He developed close links with one of his professors, the famous mineralogist Albin Julius Weisbach, with whom he worked on several projects. Jonas Zeuner
Jonas Zeuner (Kassel 1727–1814), was an artist and engraver. Zeuner arrived in Amsterdam around 1750 although his first recorded work dates from after 1770. He perfected techniques for engraving in gold and silver leaf, known as verre églomisé. His jewel-like pictures were greatly admired in fashionable Dutch circles. Zeuner's ''oeuvre'' consists mainly of town views, largely of Amsterdam, Haarlem, Utrecht and Groningen.
