Zentropy
''Zentropy'' is the debut EP from American indie rock act Frankie Cosmos. Reception Editors at AllMusic Guide rated this release 4.5 out of five stars, declaring it an Album Pick, with critic Fred Thomas calling it "an impossibly rare instance of unabashedly twee songs that transcend self-consciousness and overstated humility to connect with visceral emotional currents" that "is astonishingly complete, communicating enormous ideas effortlessly and approaching perfection with its 27 minutes". Writing for ''Pitchfork'', Mike Powell rated this release an 8.0 out of 10, calling it "a playful but disciplined album". The publication later ranked ''Zentropy'' as the 133rd best album of the 2010s. Frankie Cosmos
Greta Simone Kline (born March 21, 1994), formerly known by the stage name Frankie Cosmos, is an American musician and singer-songwriter. She is known for her independent releases, inspired by Frank O'Hara's poetry, DIY ethics of K Records and the early 2000s New York City's anti-folk scene. She is the daughter of actors Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates. Her former stage name "Frankie Cosmos" is now the name of her band. Early life Kline was born on March 21, 1994, in New York City, the daughter of Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Kline and actress Phoebe Cates. Her father is of German-Jewish and Irish descent and her mother has Russian-Jewish and Chinese-Filipino ancestry. She has one older brother, Owen Kline, who is an actor and filmmaker. Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. Double Double Whammy
Double Double Whammy is an independent record label founded by Dave Benton and Mike Caridi in October 2011 whilst studying at SUNY Purchase, a liberal arts college in New York state. History Double Double Whammy was founded by Dave Benton and Mike Caridi in October 2011. The pair started releasing tapes for their own band LVL UP, and local bands at SUNY Purchase, the college they attended in New York state. They considered the label inspired by other indie rock labels such as Merge and K. In 2014 Double Double Whammy released the breakout albums from Frankie Cosmos and, fellow SUNY Purchase alumnus, Mitski. After college the label moved to Brooklyn. Benton left the label in the Fall of 2016, and it is now run by Caridi with Mallory Hawkins, who joined the label in January 2018. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication).
