Zendōji Station
is a passenger railway station located in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Kyushu. Lines The station is served by the Kyudai Main Line and is located from the starting point of the line at . Only local trains on the line stop at the station. Layout The station consists of two side platforms serving two tracks at grade. A siding branches off track 1. The station building is a wooden structure of traditional Japanese design. The ticket window is unstaffed and the building serves only to house a waiting area. A Sugoca card reader is available. Access to the opposite side platform is by means of a footbridge. is a Japanese rechargeable contactless smart card ticketing system for public transport in Fukuoka Prefecture and environs. The Kyūshū Railway Company (JR Kyūshū) introduced the system on 1 March 2009. The name is an acronym of "Smart Urban GOing CArd", while in the local Kyūshū dialect means "great". Zendō-ji (Kurume)
Zendō-ji (善導寺), also called Daihonzan Zendō-ji (大本山 善導寺) is a Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. History Zendō-ji was founded in 1191 by Benchō and by the governor of Chikugo Province, Kusano Eihei (the uncle of Ikko Shunsho). It was originally called Komyo-ji Temple, but in 1217 it was renamed Zendō-ji Temple and became the base of the Jōdo-shū Chinzei sect in Kyushu. It burned down during war during the Muromachi period, but was rebuilt in the early Edo period with the patronage of Tanaka, the lord of Yanagawa domain. In 1616, Tadamasa Tanaka invited the Tosho Gongen Shrine to enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu.
