''Zeit im Bild (ZiB)'' (translated in English as ''A Time in the Picture'') is the name for the television news broadcasts of ORF, running since December 1955. History The first ''Zeit im Bild'' was broadcast on December 5, 1955; two editions were broadcast that day, at 5pm and 7:30pm. The format of the bulletins was based on those at the time of the BBC, in which an in-vision presenter read out the day's news. The title ''Zeit im Bild'' (roughly, ''The Time in the Picture'') was thought up by the TV journalist and later ORF Director General Teddy Podgorski. From February 3, 1975, the news broadcast on ORF's first TV channel (FS 1) was renamed to ''Zeit im Bild 1'' at 7.30 pm and was supplemented by ''Zeit im Bild 2'' on the second channel (FS 2). Astra (satellite)
Astra is the brand name for a number of geostationary communication satellites, both individually and as a group, which are owned and operated by SES, a global satellite operator based in Betzdorf, in eastern Luxembourg. The name is also used to describe the pan-European broadcasting system provided by these satellites, the channels carried on them, and even the reception equipment. At the time of the launch of the first Astra satellite, Astra 1A in 1988, the satellite's operator was known as Société Européenne des Satellites ("European Satellite Company"). Armin Wolf
Armin Wolf (; born 19 August 1966) is an Austrian journalist and television anchor. In 2017 ''Politico Europe'' called him "one of Europe’s most skilled (and feared) political journalists". He was named "European Journalist of the Year 2019" at the Prix Europa media contest. Early life and education Born in Innsbruck, Tyrol, Wolf took his Matura at a business school in Innsbruck. He graduated from the University of Vienna with a master's degree and from the University of Innsbruck with a doctorate in political science. In 2010 he earned an MBA degree at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership at Steinbeis University in Berlin. ProSieben
ProSieben (, ''sieben'' is German for "seven"; often stylized as Pro7) is a German free-to-air television network owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media. It was launched on 1 January 1989. It is Germany's second-largest privately owned television company. Although ProSieben produces some of its programming itself, it also airs many American imports. On 3 May 2012, the network launched a pay-TV channel called ProSieben Fun. A third channel called ProSieben Maxx started broadcasting on 3 September 2013. ORF 1 (''ORF eins'', ''Österreichischer Rundfunk 1'') is an Austrian public television channel owned by ORF (broadcaster), ORF. It was the first television channel in Austria, started in 1955, with regular programming started in 1957 when it now operated six days a week, then began broadcasting every day in 1961. ORF 1 is one of four public TV channels in Austria. 3sat (, ''Dreisat'') is a free-to-air German-language public service television channel. It is a generalist channel with a cultural focus and is jointly operated by public broadcasters from Germany ( ZDF, ARD), Austria ( ORF) and Switzerland ( SRG SSR). The coordinating broadcaster is ZDF, at whose Mainz facility the broadcasting centre with studios for in-house productions is located. History 3sat was established to broadcast cultural programmes, originally by satellite.
