Frank Gustave Zarb (born February 17, 1935) is an American businessman and former Republican politician. He is perhaps best known as the chairman and CEO of the NASDAQ stock exchange during the dot-com boom of the late 1990s. He is also known for his role as the " energy czar" under President Gerald Ford during the 1970s energy crisis. John Zarb
John Zarb was an Australian conscientious objector to military service (conscription) during the Vietnam War. Objecting to the principle of forced drafting for military purposes under the National Service Act (1964), Zarb refused to nominate for conscription. Zarb is of Maltese heritage. On 14 October 1968, John Zarb, 21, was the first person to be found guilty of having failed to comply with his call-up notice during the Vietnam War. He was convicted in Melbourne and sentenced to two years' jail. He lost his appeal to the full High Court on 25 November 1968 but was released on compassionate grounds in August 1969 after serving 10 months and 7 days in Pentridge Prison. Zarb's gaoling created a great deal of public opposition to conscription. Romilda Baldacchino Zarb (born 24 January 1981) is a Maltese politician, pharmacist and former television presenter who represents District 11 in the Parliament of Malta since her election in 2022. She previously served as the mayor of Mosta from 2019 until her election to Parliament in 2022. Tony Zarb (29 January 1954 – 29 May 2022) was a Maltese trade unionist who served as the long-term secretary-general of the General Workers' Union (GWU) in Malta for 16 years from January 1998 to 2015. Work Born in Malta, Tony Zarb, worked as cutting operator at the ''Blue Bell'' jeans factory in the 1980s in Malta, when he joined the General Workers' Union (GWU) 1981. He rose through the ranks and later took over the union's port & transport section. In October 1998 he was appointed secretary-general and took the office in January 1999. He would hold this post for 16 years until October 2015, when he resigned from his office. The tombak (), tonbak () or zarb () is an Iranian goblet drum. It is considered the principal Rhythm in Persian music, percussion instrument of Persian music. The tombak is normally positioned diagonally across the torso, while the player uses one or more fingers and/or the palm(s) of the hand(s) on the drumhead, often (for a ringing timbre) near the drumhead's edge. Operation Zarb-e-Azb (Pashto/ ALA-LC: ; ) was a joint military offensive conducted by the Pakistan Armed Forces against various militant groups, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the East Turkestan Islamic Movement and Lashkar-e-Islam.
