Zami River
Zami River () is a river of Myanmar, arising at in southern Kayin State. It flows north past Kyondaw, Phadaw, Apalon (village), Apalon, Kanni, Kyungyaung, Danon, Myanmar, Danon, Kyain Seikgyi and Chaunghanakwa, where it flows into Mon State. The Zami River is a tributary of the Ataran River, which on a grander scale is part of the Salween River Basin. Kawkareik District
Kawkareik District (Eastern Pwo language, Phlone ; ; also called Dooplaya in Karen language) is a district of the Karen State in Myanmar (Burma). It consists of 4 towns; Kawkareik, the capital, Kyainseikgyi, Kyondoe, Payathonzu and Kyaikdon; and 552 villages. The population as 2014 was 475,191. Townships In 2022, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Myanmar), Ministry of Home Affairs split up Kawkareik District, leaving it one and the same as Kawkareik Township. Kanni
The Kanni (கன்னி), meaning pure (also known as the Maiden's Beastmaster), is a rare indigenous South Indian sighthound breed of dog found in the state of Tamil Nadu. Their native breeding tract is located around villages in the Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Thoothukudi districts. The breed is used mainly for coursing. "Kanni" refers to the black and tan and black and sable varieties, while the solid-coloured variety is known as the Chippiparai. However, some experts claim that the Kanni and the Chippiparai are distinct breeds. Salween River
The Salween is a Southeast Asian river, about long, flowing from the Tibetan Plateau south into the Andaman Sea. The Salween flows primarily within southwest China and eastern Myanmar, with a short section forming the border of Myanmar and Thailand. Throughout most of its course, it runs swiftly through rugged mountain canyons. Despite the river's great length, only the last are navigable, where it forms a modest estuary and delta at Mawlamyine. The river is known by various names along its course, including the Thanlwin (named after '' Elaeocarpus'' sp., an olive-like plant that grows on its banks) in Myanmar and the Nu Jiang (or Nu River, named after Nu people) in China. Mon State
Mon State (, ; ) is an administrative division of Myanmar. It lies between Kayin State to the east, the Andaman Sea to the west, Bago Region to the north and Tanintharyi Region to the south, also having a short border with Thailand's Kanchanaburi Province at its south-eastern tip. Apalon (village)
Apalon () is a village alongside the Zami River in Kyain Seikgyi Township, Kawkareik District, Karen State, south-eastern Myanmar. The areas around Apalon are mountainous and forested. It is located on the Death Railway. Apalon (also: Camp 82 Kilo) was a Prisoner of war#Empire of Japan, Japanese prisoner of war work camp during World War II. The camp was initially used for the construction of a 50 metres steel bridge. It served as the headquarters of group 5. The first prisoners arrived in May 1943.
