Zale (band)
Zale (Romanian for "chainmail") is a hip hop group from Bucharest, Romania. Raku began listening to hip hop, practicing and MCing in 1993–1994. His first live appearance was in Berceni, Bucharest, and his first discography appearance in 1997; after leaving Morometzii, he became a member of the R.A.C.L.A. crew. In 2000 and 2001 he was invited by the band Paraziţii to record songs with them. In 2003 Raku was invited by Cheloo from Paraziţii to perform on his solo album, ''Sindromul Tourette''. In 2004 the video "''Egali din naştere''" (Born Equal) signed Ombladon (Paraziţii) and featuring Raku was a big success at the MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2004 raku and Ombladon won the Best Romanian Act Award in Rome. Bucharest ( , ; ro, București ) is the capital and largest city of Romania, as well as its cultural, industrial, and financial centre. It is located in the southeast of the country, on the banks of the Dâmbovița River, less than north of the Danube River and the Bulgarian border. Bucharest was first mentioned in documents in 1459. Romanian Hip Hop
Romanian hip hop first emerged in 1982, along with the break-dancing movement which became very popular in the 1980s. However, Romanian hip hop was developed in the early 1990s, when American rappers hit the European charts. Most notable Romanian hip hop artists come from Bucharest, Romania's capital and largest city and most notable trap from Craiova and Bucharest. The genre is currently growing in popularity in Europe. Summary The Romanian Revolution of 1989 was the main precursor of Romanian hip hop. Liberalization made the import of foreign hip hop tapes much easier. An underground market of tape exchanges among teens started flourishing in the early 90s. From just listening to hip hop to making hip hop there was only a small step. Berceni, Bucharest
Berceni is a district (''cartier'' in Romanian) of southern Bucharest. Location Geographically, it has a trapezoidal shape, bordered by Olteniței Road to the north and Turnu Măgurele Street to the south. Built during the 1960s, it is a typical Communist-era working class district, lacking any major green spaces or cultural attractions. It has a population of roughly 110,000. Etymology It is believed that the name comes from the hussars of Miklós Bercsényi, who were first mentioned after the suppression of the Hungarian Kuruc War led by Francis II Rákóczi (at beginning of the 18th century).
