José Andrés Rafael Zaldívar Larraín, (born March 18, 1936) popularly known as ''El Chico Zaldívar'' ("Short Zaldívar"), is a prominent Chilean Christian Democrat Party of Chile, Christian Democrat politician. Adolfo Zaldívar
Miguel Adolfo Gerardo Zaldívar Larraín (September 13, 1943 – February 27, 2013) was a Chilean politician and lawyer. He was senator for Aisén and from March 2008 until his death in February 2013 he had been President of the Chilean Senate. He was an historic member of the Christian Democratic Party, leading its right-wing faction until his expulsion from the political party in December 2007. Zaldívar was married to María Alicia Larraín Shaux and had six children. He was the brother of former President of the Senate of Chile and Interior Minister Andrés Zaldívar. Juan De Zaldívar
Juan de Zaldívar (1514–1570) was a Spanish official and explorer in New Spain. He served as a city councillor of Guadalajara from 1539 to 1570. He explored Northern New Spain (the modern-day Mexican states of Sinaloa and Sonora as well as southeastern Arizona) in search of the mythical towns of Cíbola and Quivira. By the 1560s, he was the owner of mines, farms and slaves, and one of the richest men in New Spain. Early life Juan de Zaldívar was born in 1514 near Vitoria-Gasteiz, Vitoria in Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country, Spain. His father was Ruy Díaz de Zaldívar and his mother, María Pérez de Oñate. Rafael Zaldívar
Rafael Zaldívar (1834 – 2 March 1903) was President of El Salvador from 1 May 1876 until 21 June 1885, and later a diplomat. Zaldívar studied medicine in Europe and began his career as a physician. In 1860 he was appointed to the Chair of Philosophy and Hygiene at the University of Guatemala. After leaving this post, Zaldívar entered politics and was elected to the House of Representatives, then to the Senate, and finally elected president in 1876. It was under his administration that liberal reforms abolished the existence of collectively owned ''ejidos'' and ''tierras comunales'' throughout the country. He also remains a key figure in what later became known as the "Coffee Revolution." It was Rafael Zaldívar who introduced reforms that paved the way for cultivation on large scale. Roberto Zaldívar
Roberto Zaldivar (born May 27, 1957) is an Argentine doctor of ophthalmology and a refractive surgeon. He is credited with several breakthroughs in the use of laser to correct visual impairments. Zaldivar is credited for a technique called bioptics, a term he introduced. He is the president of the Instituto Zaldivar in Argentina, and the founder and first president of the Argentine Society of Cataract and Refractive and Corneal Surgery. The Zaldívar mine is an open pit copper mine located in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. More precisely it lies in the inland portion of the commune of Antofagasta in the Antofagasta Region. In 2023 it produced 40,500 tonnes copper cathode. In December 2015 Antofagasta Minerals purchased Barrick Gold's 50% of shares of the mine and thus took full control of the operation.
