Zagarise
Zagarise () is an Arbëreshë village and ''comune'' in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region of southern Italy. History The name of the settlement first appears in official documents in the 16th century, when the Arbereshe migrated to Italy. Zagarise became an independent village during the early 19th century, when feudalism was abolished in the Kingdom of Naples. The name Zagarise may come from the Albanian region of Zagoria, located in southern Albania. “ I Zagorise “ in Albanian would translate to the one of Zagoria hence being from there which may explain the name Zagarise being from Zagoria. The placename "Zagori" itself is probably derived from the Slavic Zagore meaning "beyond the mountains". Geography Zagarise can be found 28 km north of Catanzaro in the Simeri river valley. The Arbëreshë (; ; ), also known as Albanians of Italy or Italo-Albanians, are an Albanians, Albanian ethnolinguistic group minority historically settled in Southern Italy, Southern and Insular Italy (in the regions of Abruzzo, Apulia, Basilicata, Campania, and Molise, but mostly concentrated in the regions of Calabria and Sicily). Zagori, Albania
Zagoria ( or ) is a former municipality in the Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. During the 2015 local government reform, Zagoria became a subdivision of the municipality Libohovë. Sersale is a ''comune'' in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region of Italy. As of 2013, Sersale had an estimated population of 4,701. Sersale was founded in 1620. It was named after a baron named Francesco Sersale who owned a large amount of land in the area surrounding the present borders of Sersale. Francesco Sersale and his family came from Naples.
