Zadie Xa
Zadie Xa (born 1983) is a Korean-Canadian visual artist who combines sculpture, painting, light, sound, video, and performance to create immersive multi-media experiences. Drawing inspiration from fields such as ecology, science fiction, and ancient religions, her work explores how beings imagine and inhabit their worlds. Her work is centered on otherness and is informed by personal experience within the Korean diaspora, as well as by environmental and cultural contexts of the Pacific Northwest. Xa's work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at numerous galleries in Canada, the United States, and Europe, including Serpentine Gallery in London, UK; Palais de Tokyo, in Paris, France; Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver, British Columbia; and Remai Modern in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, among others. Contemporary Art Society
The Contemporary Art Society (CAS) is an independent charity that champions the collecting of outstanding contemporary art and craft for UK museum collections. Since its founding in 1910 the organisation has donated over 10,000 works to museums across the UK. From the 1930s the Society also donated works to Commonwealth museums, but since 1989 the focus has remained exclusively on UK institutions. Jordan Bennett (artist)
Jordan Bennett (born 1986) is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist and member of the Qalipu First Nation from Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, also known as Ktaqamkuk. He is married to Métis visual artist Amy Malbeuf. Bennett works predominantly with painting, silkscreening, sculpture, video, installation and sound. Since 2008, Bennett has shown his work both nationally and internationally in over 75 exhibitions, notably ''Beat Nation: Art, Hip Hop and Aboriginal Culture'', an exhibition co-curated by Kathleen Ritter and Tania Willard that toured nationally in Canada from 2012–2014. Caroline Monnet is an Anishinaabe French and Canadian contemporary artist and filmmaker known for her work in sculpture, installation, and film. Early life and education Monnet is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist and filmmaker based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She grew up in both Douarnenez, France, and Outaouais, Quebec, Canada. Her father emigrated to Canada from France, and Monnet has French citizenship through him. Her mother is Canadian and a member of the Kitigan Zibi First Nation. Cwynar was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1985 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Joseph Tisiga
Joseph Tisiga (born 1984) is a multi-disciplinary artist and a member of the Kaska Dena Nation. He lives and works in Montreal, Quebec. Work Tisiga's artistic practice includes performance, photography, sculpture, and installation, but painting and drawing are at the root of all his work.
