Zachód (lit. ''West'') is one of four districts (Polish: ''dzielnica'') of Szczecin, Poland situated on the left bank of Oder river in western part of the city. As of January 2011 it had a population of 116,232. The term has been in use since the 14th century and is commonly translated into English as "province". Świerczewo (German language, German until 1945: ''Schwarzow'') is a municipal neighbourhood in Szczecin, Poland, located within the Zachód, Szczecin, West district. It is a residential area with mid-rise apartment buildings. The neighbourhood has an area of 2.4 km2, and in 2015, had population of 16,034 people. In the 14th century, there was founded a farming community, and the area was incorporated into the city in 1911. Pomorzany, Szczecin
Pomorzany (Polish pronounciation: ; German until 1945: ) is a municipal neighbourhood of Szczecin, Poland, located within the West district. It is a mid-rise housing estate dominated by tenement houses. Pomorzany has an area of 7.1 km2, and in 2022, was inhabited by 20,505 people, making it the fourth most populous neighbourhood. It is a residential neighbourhood with mid-rise apartment buildings, which also features numerous factories. The first traces of human activity in the area of today's Pomorzany date from the late Neolithic period. The human settlement stabilised in the area in the 8th century, and the village of Pomorzany was first attested in the documents in 1253. Its northern part was incorporated into the city in 1864, and the rest, in 1939. In the second half of the 19th century, numerous factories were opened in the neighbourhood. Pogodno is a municipal neighbourhood of the city of Szczecin, Poland, within the Zachód, Szczecin, West district. It is mostly a low-rise housing estate with detached houses. The neighbourhood has an area of 4.2 km2, and in 2015, was inhabited by 24,359 people, making it the second most populous neighbourhood of the city.
