ZAP (satellite Television)
ZAP is a digital satellite television provider mainly for Portuguese-speaking countries in sub-Saharan Africa. ZAP launched in Angola in 2010, providing a subscription based TV service covering the sub-Saharan countries to south of Angola. ZAP operates from the Eutelsat 36B satellite, placed over Africa at 36,0 degrees East, broadcasting in DVB-S2 in five transponders with MPEG-4 compression and Nagravision encryption. ZAP provides an unprecedented number of Portuguese-language channels for a region where Portuguese-speaking African countries account for more than 40 million people. In order to subscribe to ZAP's television service a subscriber can use either one of the two available decoders. The "HD+" decodes the encrypted signal, provides an electronic programming guide, high definition image and 5.1 stereo sound. ZAP Novelas is an Angolan subscription television channel launched on 1 August 2010 by ZON Multimédia, owned by ZAP. It was initially produced in Portugal for broadcast in Angola, later in Mozambique, when ZAP launched there in the first half of 2011. The channel broadcasts 24 hours a day — initialyl 18 hours — and is aimed at a female audience. On March 2, 2020, in line with its tenth anniversary, the channel started broadcasting in high definition. Its line-up is based on telenovelas and related products from Europe (especially Turkey), Latin America and the United States. ZAP Viva is one of the paid channels belonging to the Angolan company ZAP, transmitted from this December 24, 2012, broadcast 24 hours a day and its programming is based on entertainment productions such as soap operas, television series, variety show, talent, reality and talk shows. The channel is broadcast in Angola and Mozambique, through the satellite television operator ZAP. Its HD broadcast began on October 1, 2017 at position 5 of ZAP. Z Sports is an Angolan sports network owned by ZAP. The channel started in 2024, effectively replacing pop-up channels used by the provider to carry La Liga and Ligue 1 matches.
