Yūbari International Fantastic Film Festival
The , also sometimes called YIFFF, is held in a resort-like environment in the small town of Yūbari on the northernmost Japanese island of Hokkaidō. From 1990 to 1999, the festival was known as the Yubari International Fantastic Adventure Film Festival. History In 1990, the last coal mine in the Hokkaidō mining town of Yūbari having closed, the city leaders were looking for a way to revitalize the local economy. This was the beginning of the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival. The festival was divided into two main programs, a prestigious international competition for young directors, and an Off Theatre program for mostly Japanese amateur, independent and first-time directors. Windwalker (1981 Film)
''Windwalker'' is a 1981 Western film directed by Kieth Merrill and written by Ray Goldrup, based on a novel by Blaine M. Yorgason. It stars Trevor Howard and Nick Ramus. The film is set in the pre-colonial Intermountain West, and focuses on the life of a Cheyenne man, who comes back to life to protect his family from Crow warriors and be reunited with his long-lost son. It was filmed in various natural outdoor locations in Utah. Unusually for westerns, all of the characters are Native Americans. Merrill cast Trevor Howard, an English actor, for the role of the aged Windwalker, a decision that stood out in a cast of mostly Native American actors, with authenticity as a main production value. ''Killing Zoe'' is a 1993 crime film written and directed by Roger Avary and starring Eric Stoltz, Jean-Hugues Anglade and Julie Delpy. Yoshiaki Kawajiri
is a Japanese writer, director, storyboard artist and animator. A co-founder of the anime studio Madhouse, he is best known as the director of '' Wicked City'', '' Ninja Scroll'', and '' Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust''. Biography Kawajiri was born on November 18, 1950, and grew up in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. After he graduated from high school in 1968, he worked as an animator at Mushi Production Animation until it closed in 1972. He then joined Madhouse as one of the four co-founders, and in the 1970s was promoted to animation director. Body Hammer
is a 1992 Japanese tokusatsu cyberpunk body horror film directed by Shinya Tsukamoto. It is a bigger-budget sequel to Tsukamoto's 1989 film '' Tetsuo: The Iron Man'', utilizing similar themes and ideas as his first film, and largely the same cast, though the story is not a direct continuation of that of its predecessor.
