Yves Swolfs
Yves Swolfs (born 25 April 1955) is a Belgian comic book writer and artist. He is most known for his western series ''Durango'', which started in 1980. Among his other works are the vampire series ''Le prince de la Nuit'' (1994–2001); the dystopian science fiction series ''Vlad'' (2000–2006, illustrated by Griffo); and the fantasy series ''Légende'' (since 2003). His comics were published by ''Edition des Archers'', '' Glénat'', ''Soleil Productions'' and ''Le Lombard'', amongst others. A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panel (comics), panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. Soleil Productions is a French publisher of both original and imported comic books. History Soleil was founded in 1989 in Toulouse. Soleil quickly became known as a publisher of cartoons and parodies such as Rahan, Blek le Roc et Tarzan. It soon went into the heroic fantasy. ''Le Lombard'', known as ''Les Éditions du Lombard'' until 1989, is a Belgian comic book publisher established in 1946 when '' Tintin'' magazine was launched. Le Lombard is now part of Média-Participations, alongside publishers Dargaud and Dupuis, with each entity maintaining its editorial independence. History Les Éditions du Lombard was established by Raymond Leblanc and his partners in 1946. Wanting to create an illustrated youth magazine, they decided that the already well-known '' Tintin'' would be the perfect hero. Business partner André Sinave went to see Tintin creator Hergé to propose creating the magazine.
