Yusuf Karaan
Yusuf Karaan (also written as Yousuf Abdullah Karaan) (15 November 1935 - 10 May 2015) was a South African Sunni Muslim scholar from Strand who served as head mufti of Muslim Judicial Council. Biography Karaan was born on 15 November 1935. He acquired his primary education from Strand Moslem Primary School and Methodist Mission School and completed his matriculation from Athlone Secondary School in 1952. In 1957, he moved to India where he studied at Darul Uloom Deoband for five years and graduated in 1962. He was a co-founder of Strand Progressive society in 1955. He played a key role in unifying four groups of the Strand Muslim Community under the umbrella of one Strand Muslim Council in 1966. Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar
Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar (1928 – 2 June 2013) was a Pakistani Sunni Muslim scholar, poet, philanthropist and a Sufi mentor. He established the Jamiah Ashraful Madrāris in Karachi. He was an alumnus of the State Unani Medical College Allahabad and the Madrasa Bait-ul-Uloom, Sarai Mir. He was an authorized disciple of Abrarul Haq Haqqi. His works include ''Ma'ārif-e-Masnawi'' and ''Faizān-e-Muḥabbat''. Biography Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar was born in 1928 in Pratapgarh. He was schooled in Pratapgarh and studied Persian with Qāri Muḥammad Siddīq in Sultanpur.He graduated from the State Unani Medical College Allahabad in 1944 where his teacher was Hakim Aḥmad Usmāni, the father of Hakim Hammad Usmani. Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi
Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi (1900 – 2 August 1962) was an Indian Sunni Islamic scholar and an activist of the Indian independence movement, who served as the fourth general secretary of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. He fought against British rule for 25 years (1922-1947) and spent eight years in jail. As a politician, he opposed the partition of India, and served as a member of the Indian Parliament for the Indian National Congress from Amroha (Lok Sabha constituency) from 1952 to 1962. Biography Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi was born in 1900 (1318 AH) in a Zamindar family in Seohara, a city and municipal board in the Bijnor district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Darul Uloom Deoband
The Darul Uloom Deoband is an Islamic seminary ( darul uloom) in India at which the Sunni Deobandi Islamic movement began. It is located in Deoband, a town in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The seminary was established by Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Fazlur Rahman Usmani, Sayyid Muhammad Abid and others in 1866. Mahmud Deobandi was the first teacher and Mahmud Hasan Deobandi was the first student.
